Worship 11:00 a.m. (Please turn off all cell phones & pagers) Prelude Aria Michael Burkhardt Taylor Ruhl, organ Invocation I trust in God s unfailing love for ever and ever. I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. Ps. 52:8, 9 Hymn of Praise Love Divine, All Loves Excelling No. 191 Prayers of the Congregation (Please remain standing for prayer) Leif Lind Prayer Response More love to thee, O Christ! More love to thee; (No. 458) Hear thou the prayer I make on bended knee. This is my earnest plea, more love, O Christ, to thee, More love to thee! More love to thee! Anthem Down to the River to Pray Shelden Curry Children s Sermon Arleene Chow Opportunity for members to greet each other while children make their way up front. A special Lamb s Offering for student assistance fund will be collected right after the story. Anthem Day by Day Arr. Scott K. Lee Responsive Reading Micah 6:6-12 Didi Mumford With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Listen! The Lord is calling to the city and to fear your name is wisdom Heed the rod and the One who appointed it. Am I still to forget your ill-gotten treasures, you wicked house, and the short ephah, which is accursed? Shall I acquit someone with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights? Your rich people are violent; your inhabitants are liars and their tongues speak deceitfully.

Sermon Do Justice Call to Offering Offertory The Beatitudes Albert Malotte Stephanie Aston, soprano (Unless otherwise marked, loose offering goes to local church expense) Hymn of Response O God, You Call for Justice Carolyn Winfrey Gillette Tune: Aurelia (1) O God, you call for justice for goodness, never greed! You seek a world of fairness where all have what they need Where all have food and water and homes in which to thrive, Where all have hope and laughter and joy to be alive! (2) O God, you call for kindness instead of keeping score; You seek a world that welcomes the hungry and the poor. Lord, where there is injustice may we work to protect The struggling ones, the voiceless that others would reject. (3) You call us to walk humbly, for we are not our own; We all are poor and needy; we need the grace you ve shown. May we respond to others reflecting what you give Compassion, kindness, justice so all may gladly live. (4) O God, may our great nation seek justice, as we should, And work with dedication to seek the common good. We re blessed to be a blessing; may we within our law Seek justice and compassion that reaches out to all. Benediction (Please be seated after the benediction) Choral Response The Lord Bless You and Keep You Peter Lutkin Postlude Voluntary in D Healey Willan A Whether you re a regular member or a visitor, we encourage you to continue to fellowship with our Church family after the worship service! Please also feel free to contact any of our pastoral staff if you have a question, want a visit, or need help.

Church Life All are welcome whoever you are, whatever your journey or background. God excludes no one, and neither do we. Today s flowers are given by Judson Ravi to Halle & Emma Leonard, in honor of their birthdays. Get to Know the People in Your Church Better This Year! As an inclusive and welcoming congregation, Glendale City Church has a wonderfully diverse group of people who call this church home. In 2016, we are focusing on a different segment of our congregation each month. For May we will be celebrating Asian-Pacific Heritage Month. Memorial service for Kathryn Magarian will be in the sanctuary on May 28 at 2:30 p.m. Memory book for Kathryn Magarian: There are probably few in this sanctuary who did not get a handwritten note or card from Kathryn at some time. There may be some who had good intentions to send her a card or letter, but didn t get it in the mail in time. For those who wish to leave a message or memento in memory of Kathryn, we will be placing a book on the front pew (piano side) every Sabbath until her May 28 memorial service. At that time we will present the book to the family. Lela Leong 110th Church Anniversary panorama photo order yours by calling the church office. See sample in foyer. $25. At this second Sunday Vallejo Drive were the sponsors of the meal, serving up baked pasta, salad, and bread, that was well received, and no left-overs! Fifteen volunteers from our church and Vallejo participated to serve about 70 guests. Volunteers Needed! Now we need volunteers for May 15, 22 and 29. Here s what we need each of these Sundays: 4 Kitchen Volunteers: provide food preparation assistance, help serve food on the buffet line and wash dishes and clean up the kitchen 4 Dining Room Volunteers: set up tables and chairs, help serve food on the buffet line, and put away tables and chairs 1 Facility Supervisor: a person who provides logistical support to the volunteers and has facility keys to necessary rooms and cabinets (these will be provided). Send an email right now to glendalesda@gmail.com or fill out a connection card from the pew in front of you and turn it in during offering collection with the dates you can volunteer, and indicate whether you want to work in the kitchen or dining room or be a supervisor. Thank you, Pastoral Staff.
