Children s Blessing Joel Russell-MacLean (The children will come forward during the singing of this hymn and will go to the lower hall following the children s moment for their own worship.) Gift of Music Scripture Reader: 3 WE LISTEN TO GOD Christa Walsh Old Testament Lesson: Isaiah 53:1-3 (O.T. pg. 683) Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 22:1-5, 14-19. 22-24 Leader: My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? Congregation: Leader: Choir: Leader: Congregation: Leader: Choir: Leader: O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; and by night, but find no rest. Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. In You our ancestors trusted; they trusted, and You delivered them. To You they cried, and were saved; in You they trusted, and were not put to shame. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast; My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; You lay me in the dust of death. For dogs are all around me, a company of evildoers encircles me. My hands and feet have shriveled. I can count all my bones. They stare and gloat over me; they divide my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing, they cast lots.
Congregation: Leader: Choir: All: But You, O Lord, do not be far away! O my help, come quickly to my aid! I will tell of Your name to my brothers and sisters, in the midst of the congregation I will praise You: You who fear the Lord, praise Him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify Him; stand in awe of Him, all you offspring of Israel! For He did not despise or abhor the affliction of the afflicted; He did not hide His face from me, but heard when I cried to Him. *Gloria Patri #623 Congregation Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost: As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. New Testament Lesson: Matthew 16:24-26, 27:27-37 (N.T. pg. 18 & 32) Leader: This is the word of the Lord! People: Thanks be to God! Topic: Serving Others Ivy is the Executive Director of The Salvation Army William Booth Special Care Home and The Regina Wascana Grace Hospice (RWGH), since 1997. Throughout her career she has worked in various healthcare settings in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Her passion for palliative care first emerged in the LTC (long term care) setting, which later progressed to the creation of the Hospice (2005), in order to provide end of life care for the clients/patients still living in the community. She was instrumental in the initial vision of the Hospice and worked collaboratively developing community partnerships with the Health Region, Canadian Progress Club Regina Wascana, Regina Palliative Care Inc. and the Salvation Army. This vision became a reality in 2005. The Regina Wascana Grace Hospice is the first Hospice in Saskatchewan and one of the most cost effective models, resourced with a LTC facility in Canada. CANADIAN BAPTIST MINISTRIES NEWS: BOLIVIA A team from Grand Bay Baptist Church in New Brunswick is headed to Bolivia from February 16-March 2, as they will be involved with the Chagas project & Casa de la Amistad through their short-term mission. These two important projects address crucial needs in Bolivia. Chagas disease is a silent killer among the poor in Bolivia, transmitted by an insect that lives in common Bolivian homes, which the project provides medical treatment for and renovations for homes. The Casa project runs programming for children living in prison with their incarcerated parents, ministering to them and their parents in a difficult situation. Pray for the team in their unity, safety, and to be vessels of abundant blessing to all they encounter. GLOBAL February 20 was the World Day of Social Justice, observed annually to promote efforts to address issues like poverty, exclusion, and other social development and justice topics. CBM is committed to the integral mission of the church in a broken and wounded world. Little importance is given to people at the bottom who are often nameless and voiceless. We believe that God s mission is good news for those who live on the margins and cry out for compassion and justice. Please join us in prayer for the continued mission and message that we carry as believers of Christ, to be Jesus hands and feet in whatever way we can. Calling all CGIT alumni and girls aged 10+.
