Fred Schuster Thanked the AFA Chapter fr their supprt f Junir ROTC in the regin There are eight prgrams fr which the Chapter prvides a $500.00 schlarship every year fr cadets hpefully frm the lcal area t jin the Air Frce ROTC Eight were designated fr this year but nly six were given ut tw cadets decided at the last minute t enlist; is sure by this time that they are prbably regretting that decisin will try t give all f them ut fr next year, tw frm each unit USAF Marathn will have abut 50 cadets there at the finish line, at the baggage claim and the fd curt all f ur cadets really lk frward t that Gave a brief verview f the Junir ROTC prgram in the United States, including the fur services which have ROTC prgrams: Army, Air Frce, Navy and Marines it is a very ppular prgram thrughut the schls and many are n a waiting list discussed the impact f schl levies n the prgram as Junir ROTC is an elected prgram thrughut the fur services in Ohi, there are 64 units -- 869 Air Frce units wrldwide Civil Air Patrl Lt. Expenses fr the mnth were $169,830. Depsits/incme was $130,117. The ending balance was $158,663. A snapsht f the past year since I tk ver in Octber 2009, with abut a mnth t g, shws incme has exceeded utflw thus far by $6,000 which is gd news. These figures are nt included in the August reprt since sme f the incme has just cme in fr this mnth. Next mnth, we will wrap up the year f my ding this and see hw we cme ut. Jeff Liffick cmmented that August was a big mnth with a lt f checks written fr different things hpefully, we ll get ur balance back up there SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS: 2010 Daytn Air Shw Chalets Jim Heitz nt present 2010 AFMC Ball, Dragns Game, and Sympsium Jeff Liffick Renee Albright reprted n the Silent Auctin f 25 August: Raised $7,889 frm dnatins f 79 items. 10 items were nt bid n and are nw up fr bid fr AFA members; Jeff Liffick has the list. The Cadets that helped at the auctin were fantastic! We hpe t cntinue t use their supprt in the future. Wrking n getting ut Thank Yu letters t the cmpanies and individuals wh dnated this year. Jeff reprted that the dnatins this year were a little bit thinner than they have been in the years past but cnsidering the ecnmy, we did very well. Fr any f the items we have left, we have a list if anyne is interested in bidding n any f them; they were mainly gift certificates fr different things ut there. Jeff cmmented n the Ball, saying there was nearly recrd attendance f me 450+; this was extremely gd. Thanked everyne wh was able t be there. It was a very nice event starting with the Silent Auctin which Renee led up fr us. Fr the last three years, we re just a supprter with a part in the Awards Ceremny and with ur spnsrs that were able t attend. But fr the mst part, the Air Frce takes ver that prtin f it and we get t set back a little bit althugh there is quite a bit f input frm ur team getting everything t g tgether. Jeff reprted n the Technlgy Sympsium n the fllwing day. We had nearly 300 attendees. There were significantly less Air Frce SLC attendees this year because it was made an ptinal event, but ur attendance was up actually ver the year befre as well as the receipts. In ttal with the tw events, the Air Frce Ball Silent Auctin and the Technlgy Sympsium, we raised almst $20,000 fr the Air Frce Aid Sciety. We will be writing a check fr them in next week r s as sn as we finish ttaling up everything n the bks. I appreciate everyne s supprt, either helping with registratin, r being ne f the mderatrs, r ther things. Lking arund the rm, I see a lt f peple that helped in making all f this a great success. I really appreciate it. It takes a lt f wrk t pull ff these events.

Jeff asked Kent Owsley t talk abut a cuple f things. Kent remarked that next year, the Air Frce may be changing hw they will d their Senir Leader Cnference. This will affect hw the Chapter will decide hw t wrk with the Air Frce n the Technlgy Sympsium fr next year. It may be different r it may stay the same. It culd be at the beginning f the year r it culd be all kinds f different things. But the Ball and the Sympsium went really well, and remarked t Renee that she did a great jb. Jeff cntinued that fr thse wh were nt able t attend the Sympsium, the discussins and the presentatins were very interesting. Fred Pumry asked t cmment n ne mre thing abut the Ball, if yu were there, yu knw wh the Awards went t. If yu weren t there, the Ambassadr Award went t Amanda Wright Lane fr all she has dne t cntinue the legacy f the Wright Brthers bviusly here in Daytn. Ohi. She travels the wrld t d that. The Heritage Award went t Lt Gen. Bb Raggi, the past cmmander at Aernautical Systems Center. The Legacy Award fr the civilian side f the business went t Mr. Jim Matisse. This is the best year we ve had in terms f peple actually vting. Great input; we d like t see mre. The prblem we are having is finding peple wh will nminate peple in the cmmunity r the Air Frce fr these awards. He ended up hunting up peple t write nminatins and this is nt hw it shuld wrk; it shuld cme frm the Chapter. Next Year, he will be asking peple t d that. On the vting side, we had 100 peple vte this year which is the mst we ve ever had. This sunds great nly we sent ut 2,500 emails with ballts but we had sme 2,125 ballts ut there that smebdy shuld have respnded t. The last ballt in actually swung the Legacy Award t Jim Matisse. I encurage yu t take part and participate in this. Jeff cmmented that all f the award winners were very excited. There were sme great acceptance speeches. 2010 Marathn, 15 September Fred Pumry A reprt will be made at the next meeting 2011 USATT Exp, Tuesday-Friday, third week in July 2011 Kent Owsley reprted that n tracks, speakers, r exhibits have been signed up but there shuld be mre details by the next meeting. Cmmunity Partners Gary Strack Tw new CP s were recruited this past mnth: the Crwne Plaza Htel and the NCR Cuntry Club. Ryan Rs frm the NCR Cuntry Club attended the meeting, talked abut the Club, its upcming Natinal Day f Glf event, and a current Patrit Membership pprtunity fr Daytn-area Military and Federal Civil Service persnnel. In the past, this uting has raised ver $2 millin at varius curses ver 30 states. NCR lks frward t being a part f AFA and serving the military cmmunity in the Daytn regin. Gary presented a CP plaque t Mark Metzner f Merk Metzner Cnsulting Services. Mark prvided infrmatin regarding his bjectives in becming an AFA Chapter Cmmunity Partner.

At the recent AFA Technlgy Sympsium, Gary presented a CP plaque t Brian Osbrne frm the Rss Grup. A CP plaque will be presented t Kendall Printing later this week. Kent Shin frm ITT Electrnic Systems invited Cheryl Cruz and Mark Mills, Ryan Rs frm NCR Cuntry Club, and Je Greene, President f the Daytn Gems Hckey Club. Kent thanked the Chapter fr including ITT in the AFA family. Je Greene has applied fr membership as a Cmmunity Partner. The Gems are friends t the military cmmunity ffering military discunts n single tickets and Family Packages. The Gems lk frward t wrking with the AFA and welcming the Wright-Patt cmmunity t their games. During the Daytn Gems Hckey Club seasn, ITT and the Daytn Gems will spnsr Gems fr a Day. This will allw five Air Frce members recently returning hme frm cmbat t accmpany the team n a full day t include a pre-game skate, a lcker rm tur, and team jerseys. Membership Dee Cx Received a reprt frm Natinal; as f the end f May, nly tw members were added but this did nt include thse that came in frm the Air Shw has new membership applicatins if anyne needs them Aerspace Educatin Sharn Murner Educatin has set the dates f Octber 1 and 2, 2010 fr the Wright Memrial Chapter #212 AFA Grant Writing Wrkshps fr all teachers in the Daytn metr area and beynd. We will have a 2-1/2 hur wrkshp t help teachers apply fr a $250.00 grant fr their classrm. The attached flyer will be sent ut. The wrkshps will be available n a firstcme basis. Veterans Affairs Gerge Simns Vita Enta and I will attend the 9 September quarterly VAVS meeting at the Daytn VA. We will present 5 checks fr unfunded needs fr the VA. This includes General Purpse Fund, Emergency Fund, Wmen Veterans Fund, Canteen Bk Fund, and Bwling Alley Fund. State f Ohi President s Reprt Kent Owsley Preparing fr the natinal cnventin.
