WELCOME TO THE JOURNEY! Thank you for choosing to worship with us today! As a church family, we are determined to come alongside of you to enable you to become all that God wants you to be. Every person s life story is different but every life story has a purpose that contributes to making God s church that much more relevant in this world. So no matter where you are in life right now, we want to help you figure out where you are in your journey with God. Hopefully you will find a place here to grow in your faith and serve our God together. Our mission is... LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS, LOVE THE WORLD At the Journey, we are focused on making disciples, whose love for Jesus impacts their love for each other and their love for the world. Our vision is to be a multi-cultural, outreach-oriented, grace-filled church that has fallen in love with God, His Word, and with each other. A place where authentic and relevant praise happens naturally as an expression of our love for God. Where people are being equipped to grow into disciples of Jesus who are making an impact on the world around them. SERMON NOTES JANUARY 22, 2017 lifeapps: Calculator What Does Your Heart Trust In? Proverbs 27:23-24 (NLT), Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds, for riches don t t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation. 1. God owns everything 1 Chronicles 29:10-14 God originated everything God owns everything God is over everything 1 Chronicles 29:11 (NLT), Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the vic- tory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom.. We adore you as the one who is over all things. 1 Chronicles 29:14, Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! Psalm 24:1 (CEV), The earth and everything on it belong to the Lord. The world and its people belong to him. 2. There s no security in money or wealth Ecclesiastes 5:10-15 (NLT) Money and wealth will never satisfy

SERMON NOTES JANUARY 22, 2017 Ecclesiastes 5:10, Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! Money and wealth can be easily lost Ecclesiastes 5:11, The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth except except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers! Proverbs 23:4-5 (MSG), Don Don t t wear yourself out trying to get rich; restrain yourself! Riches disappear in the blink of an eye; wealth sprouts wings and flies off into the wild blue yonder. Ecclesiastes 5:15, We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can t t take our riches with us. Luke 12:18-19 (MSG), Then I ll I gather in all my grain and goods, and I ll I say to myself, Self, you ve done well! You ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life! Luke 12:20-21, Just then God showed up and said, Fool! Tonight you die. And your barnful of goods who gets it? That s s what happens when you fill your barn with Self and not with God. We need to honor God first Proverbs 3:9-10, Honor the Lord with your wealth and the firstfruits from all your crops. Then your barns will be full, and your wine barrels will overflow with new wine. Ecclesiastes 2:10, I I decided to deny myself nothing that my eyes desired. Ecclesiastes 2:11, And when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless. It was all like chasing the wind; nothing was really gained under the sun. Matthew 6:19-24: Where is your treasure? The Durability Test How long will it last? Matthew 6:19-20 (NCV), Don Don t t store treasures for yourselves here on earth where moths and rust will destroy them and thieves can break in and steal them. But store your treasures in heaven where they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and where thieves cannot break in and steal them.

SERMON NOTES JANUARY 22, 2017 The Heart Test Where are you investing your time and money? Matthew 6:21 (NCV), Your heart will be where your treasure is. The Master Test Who do you serve? Matthew 6:24 (NCV), No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches. So the question is... What choice have you made...who do you serve?
