From the Pastor... Church Family, Iwant you to know first off how much I love each one of you. I so appreciate the opportunity God has given me to be your pastor, and I thank Him regularly for that. I believe we have such an incredible opportunity here on Hilton Head Island to have an amazing impact on our community with the Gospel. As we have been commissioned by Christ, and are reminded of that commission weekly as we worship together, let s take the Gospel with us into the places where we live, dine, work, and play. Please Participate in our Pictorial Directory I want to encourage you all to be involved with our new directory photography sessions, with pictures being taken February 1, 2, 19, and 20. While we know that for some who are out of town at this me of year it is impossible to par cipate these dates, but we would LOVE to have new pictures of everyone who is available for this year s directory. Nearly every one of us has seasoned over the past three years, but your face is s ll beau ful to us, so please par cipate. This took is very helpful to our church family and it will not be complete if you are not included. If you are out of town and not available, on the days assigned to us for photography, please contact Lynda Hopkins at 843-785-4478 for other op ons. New Logo, Website and Database We have several technology changes that you heard about in January s newsle er and are beginning to see now. Our logo has been updated a li le, and can be seen on pre-worship announcement slides as well as other places. We are launching a new website early this month as we seek to improve our online presence. We are also transi oning to a new church database and contact system called the.ly. This is both an online giving pla orm as well as a database system with the ability to schedule volunteers and worker rota ons. So, when you begin ge ng emails through the.ly in the next couple months, please don t mark them as junk. Live-streaming for our worship service is s ll a few months away. We will keep you updated on that. Discovery New Members Class Our Discovery Course (membership class) kicks off Sunday, February 24 in Room 7 in the Children s Building. It will be conducted three Sundays in a row from 9:15-10:00, with a lunch, Q&A, and campus tour on Sunday, March 17. If you are new member, looking to join, or just want to know more about the church, we want you in this class. This class is our onramp for new members as it answers ques ons about who we are, what we do, and why we do it. You will have the opportunity to meet new people and build some rela onships with your new church family. Draw Near to God As 2019 is well under way, I want to ask you to con nue to draw near to God and align yourself as closely as you can to Him. Know that, as God is clearly moving in our church family, we also know that Satan desires to distract from all that God is doing. So, church, buckle up! Don t let any poten al distrac ons become divisions. We are church family. Let s watch each other s backs and communicate love in all things. I love you all and I m so proud to be your pastor. In Christ, Bre Myers We are planning ahead. Put these dates on your calendars for summer ac vi es. Week of Champions - June 3-7, 2019 Vacation Bible School - June 17-21, 2019 2 Summer Camp for Middle and High School Students - July 8-12, 2019

Thank you for being a part of our church family by par cipa ng. Though our feelings come and go, God s love for us does not. - C.S. Lewis Loved and Known Jesus knows me, this I love, read the church sign. That twist on the classic children s song emphasizes the importance of being both loved and known. It s not one or the other; it s hard truth and ridiculous grace, sings contemporary Chris an ar st Tauren Wells in Known. Timothy Keller, in The Meaning of Marriage, describes the duality this way: To be loved but not known is comfor ng but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and for fies us for any difficulty life can throw at us. 55

The Church as Mosaic A mosaic consists of thousands of li le stones. Some are blue, some are green, some are yellow, some are gold. When we bring our faces close to the mosaic, we can admire the beauty of each stone. But as we step back from it, we can see that all these li le stones reveal to us a beau ful picture, telling a story none of these stones can tell by itself. That is what our life in [the church] is about. Each of us is like a li le stone, but together we reveal the face of God to the world. Nobody can say: I make God visible. But others who see us together can say: They make God visible. [Chris an] community is where humility and glory touch.
