The Prairie Chief Volume 37, Issue 5 November-December 2016 Cruisin to Hooper, NE On our way to the home of Bruce & Ann Skidmore, in Hooper, we stopped for a photo op. Main Street of Hooper

On October 9, we cruised to Hooper for a meeting and picnic held at the Skidmore s acreage. They have a great picnic area with a lake and plenty of picnic tables. Bruce and Ann and Chuck and Fran Merica provided hamburgers and hotdogs and members brought the sides for the meal. Boy, did we have a bevy of desserts. The food was all great. We toured the Skidmore auto collection, followed by lunch and a Chapter meeting. See more photos of their collection in the January 2016 issue of Prairie Chief. We had approximately 37 members and visitors, incuding POA members and friends of the Skidmores.

President s Notes We're in the holiday season, the election is FINALLY over and we have a good year to look back on. We've enjoyed Pontiac events together and welcomed some new Pontiac enthusiasts to our club. We drove west and had great chili with the Nielsen's; purchased new Nebraska Pontiac t- shirts, thanks to the Merica's; traveled west, again, and drove on a race course with the Kissinger's; had a nice turnout for hamburgers and a potluck at Walkinshaws' shop; attended Pontiac Tribute Day in Kansas City and ate pie; cruised across Iowa to the POCI Nationals; brought out our Pontiacs for the annual Show and Shine, in Lincoln, and most recently, gathered in Hooper for another hamburger potluck, thanks to the Skidmore's. I hope you all come out again for our Christmas buffet at Misty's. We had such a large turnout last year. We need nominations or volunteers for the office of president and for area board members. We also need suggestions for events and activities for the 2017 year. Have a good Thanksgiving. If you are not a POA member and you do not know about POA's Christmas dinner, give Chuck Merica a call. All Pontiac members are welcome to attend on Sunday, December 4th, in Bennington, Nebraska, at Nate's Stumble Inn. Tom 2016-17 Dec.11 Jan/Feb???- March/April? Secretary Notes by Mary Schwanz What a beautiful day for a cruise. Our president, Tom Rappl, opened up our meeting thanking Bruce and Ann Skidmore for allowing us to cruise to their place for a meeting and pot luck. They said we could have this as an annual event. We had approximately 37 people attend. It was good to see Chuck Roberts who has had some health problems but doing well now. We have had a couple of members who have had surgery, Toni Chamberlin had her rotator cuff repaired and she doesn t like sitting still but doing okay. She said Mike was doing a fine job. Diane Rappl had a hip replacement and also doing well. Tom is taking good care of her. Claudia got news from Steve Kissinger s stating his father passed away. Our sympathies go out to him. Hillis reported on our 4th annual show and shine. We had 69 cars on the show field that were registered but many more that did not register. Plan on having it next year same time of year. Hillis proposed bringing Jim Wangers back if he is able to travel. We would need approximately $1,000 in donations. When we find out if he is interested, then he will ask for donations. Any amount is fine. Our next meeting is December 11 at Misty s in Lincoln. Look elsewhere for time and address. Meeting was closed. OTHER NEWS Member Ernie Greek Abariotes had a knee replacement this week. Member Barb Lueder is having an issue with her hip. Feel better soon! Nomination and Election of Officers and Board of Directors Now is the time to nominate members for officers and board of directors. If you or someone you think would be interested, please nominate them. It has been the same members for many years and I am sure they would like a break. Chapter Meetings and Activities We need ideas or volunteers for meeting locations and activities for the chapter. Our by-laws say we will meet six times a year. We have had meetings from the Hastings area to the Omaha area. We have had chili feeds, potlucks BBQ s and toured various museums and collections of other car enthusiasts. we have cruised to different parks, wineries and members homes.
