12 Hours of Prayer Friday, January 13 7:00 am to 7:00 pm FUMC Chapel You are invited to come and pray to the Lord God Almighty in the peace and quiet of the Chapel. There will be a sheet of prayer suggestions to guide you through different areas that need prayer, or, come with your own list. The sheet will contain requests for the nation, the church, the spiritual growth of Christians, and ministry to those who do not yet know Christ. LORD, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying Nehemiah 1:5-6a There are two sign-up sheets on Pastor Yum s office window, one for those who will pray in the Chapel and one for those praying somewhere else (home, work, vacation ). Please sign up for one or more 30-minute time slots. If you are unable to sign yourself up, please call Teri Beasley in the church office, 835.6797 ext. 120, and give her the time you will be praying so your name can be added to the list. We hope to have two or more people praying during every slot. Winter 2017 Discipleship Studies Beginning Sunday, January 8 10:15-11:05 am Adult Sunday Classes A Life Worth Living, by Nicky Gumbel Room. 10, led by Meggan Sawyer & Kathy Hoffman This study from the book of Philippians looks at the practical aspects of Christian living - it will correspond to our pastors winter sermon series, God Makes All Things New! The Book of Acts - Life Application Bible Studies Room 36, led by Carolyn Landis & Rebecca Jamrog The 13 lessons from the Book of Acts help us learn how to take the message of Christ to our world. The Forum Class, Hearth Room, led by Rev. Pamela Buchholz Do you like great story telling? Thought-provoking topics? Engaging conversation? Then drop in as you re able during the first three weeks in January to listen to and discuss segments from NPR s This American Life. The first two weeks will deal with racism, and the third week is the story of a Chinese woman who, in accordance with her tradition, is not informed that her illness is terminal. It will make you laugh and question our tradition of full disclosure.
