The Demographic ZIP Code report for your primary ZIP codes may be helpful. St. Peter is a progressive community with a population growth of 14.9% from 2000-2010. Our city is 90% Caucasian, with small groups of Hispanics and Somalians. 89% of adults have a high school diploma; and 33.4% of persons over the age of 25 have a Bachelor's degree or higher. Employment stats: 33% in management, business, arts, or sciences; 26% are in service work; 24% in sales or office. Median family income is $61,000. Age groups: 28% under 20; 29% age 25-55; 14% over 62. Trends: List three changes or trends within the congregation or organization which have occurred in the last three to five years. 1. We have explored innovative ways to practice youth ministry, community outreach and discipleship and want to see these efforts grow. 2. Ministry in daily life has become more of a focus with programs such as "God's Work, Our Hands" and hosting "The Kitchen" which provides free meals to anyone in the community on Monday evenings. 3. We have been and continue to work at enhancing our youth programming, our Biblical literacy, and our worship services so that members, friends and visitors grow in faith. Context: List three ways that the community in which you are located has been challenged by change and transition in the last three to five years. 10/17/2018 5:25:16 PM Page 3 of 11

There has been a large influx in the school population that led to the construction of a new high school building which was completed in 2017. St. Peter's Middle School and Elementary School buildings also underwent major remodeling. There is currently a building boom in the construction of new rental units - both subsidized and unsubsidized. As with most communities our size, there is an effort to secure local jobs, even though we welcome those who are employed elsewhere and want to make St. Peter their home. Programs: Describe your congregation's or organization's current programs for mission and ministry. "God's Work, Our Hands", adult forums, worship at local nursing facilities, home visits, food-shelf, prayer chain, quilters, PraiseBand, Celebration Singers, PraiseBells, Joy! Choir, WELCA circles, vacation Bible School, Nicollet County Fair booth, Green Team, youth ministry (including annual mission trips for middle school and high school students), and The Kitchen (free meals are prepared and served Monday evenings at Trinity for anyone in the community). Goals: What are the primary goals of your ministry site (please refer to any Strategic Plan that has been adopted). 1. Nurture and support the youth by sharing our Christian faith with them. 2. Engage members in ministry beyond Sunday morning worship and Wednesday evening worship (local servant opportunities). 3. Create opportunities for all generations to interact and have fellowship. Energy: What is your congregation or organization really excited about right now? Trinity is blessed with friendly people who are committed to their faith. We have strong involvement of our youth both in numbers and enthusiasm. Trinity also has a strong music program, including choirs and a variety of instrumentalists who are encouraged to share their musical gifts to enhance worship. We are excited about the opportunity to have new people with new ideas and approaches to stimulate our congregation and help to create excitement about our mission. In May of 2018 we celebrated the retirement of our building debt and created a Church Building Fund. Partnership: How does this congregation or organization see itself as a member and active participant in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the synod? Trinity has always taken an active part in the Synod and Churchwide organization. We are strong financial supporters of the Synod; we have individuals participating in WELCA triennial meetings; National youth gatherings; South Africa Companion Synod and our partnership with our sister conference/circuit; Green Lake Bible Camp. Trinity sponsors a missionary serving in South Africa. We have also been a recipient of the "Servant of Christ" award from LSS of Minnesota. 10/17/2018 5:25:16 PM Page 4 of 11

Ministry Site Characteristics A LOT LIKE US AS A COMMUNITY A LITTLE A LITTLE LIKE US LIKE US A LOT LIKE US We tend to be formal and programmatic. We tend to be informal and spontaneous. We have clearly defined goals and plans for our future. We have no stated goals or plans. We are racially and economically diverse. We are demographically homogeneous. We welcome ideas that are provoking and challenging. OUR LEADERSHIP STYLE We prefer ideas that are tried and true. We rely on our leaders for direction. We rely on group decision-making. We focus on skills and action. We are obviously Lutheran in identify and practice. OUR THEOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE We are less obvious about our Lutheran heritage. We participate in synod and ELCA activities. We are not very active in the synod and ELCA. We focus on Biblical studies and doctrine. We focus on contemporary issues and topics. 10/17/2018 5:25:16 PM Page 5 of 11

Purpose, Giftedness and Mission Purpose Giftedness Mission How does this congregation or organization understand its reason for being in the light of God's call to mission and service? Who are you? Why are you here? Trinity is: A worshiping community gathered in prayer and praise to the living God revealed to us a Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A teaching community committed to growing in and handing on Christian faith, especially as experienced in our Lutheran heritage. A discipling community intentionally following Jesus Christ in all that we are and with all that we have. A serving community, reaching out to needy neighbors in Christ's love and service. A "family" immersed in God's grace - enjoying and serving one another. What are your gifts and resources for fulfilling this purpose? What are the congregation s or organization's top three assets and how are they being used? Are there obstacles that must be overcome to be able to use these gifts and accomplish the mission? 1. We have been referred to as the "Community's Church" because of the many activities that our church hosts. Examples include, AA meetings, Preschool testing, Financial Peace University classes, Monday evening free meals (The Kitchen), St. Peter Chorale Society, and Habitat for Humanity. 2. A college of the ELCA, Gustavus Adolphus College, is located only blocks away and offers a wealth of resources that have enriched our programs. 3. We offer both traditional and contemporary worship experiences for members and visitors. In light of the way you have described your ministry context in this Ministry Site Profile, what are the top three mission priorities which, if accomplished, hold the most promise for the continued development of this ministry? Trinity is a community of faith where people are invited to GATHER joyfully into the presence of the Father, inspired to GROW into passionate disciples of Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to GO out and serve the world. 1. We are committed to increasing our worship attendance, membership, and stewardship. 2. We support our youth and provide encouragement to our young people. 3. We reach out to the community with our welcoming spirit and our continued contributions to the St. Peter community through the "Kitchen" meal," food-shelf support, and the use of our church building. During the summer of 2013, the congregation met in small groups to discuss a survey sent to every member. This process was guided by the Transition Team. Their summary report, along with the raw data was then submitted to the church council, and passed on to the Call Committee for the purpose of calling our Lead Pastor. That call was issued and accepted in June of 2014. Trinity's Council and Lead Pastor used that material and also had extensive conversations in order to create the MSP for the process of calling our Associate Pastor/Children, Youth and Families. That MSP was adopted by the Council in March of 2015. Because the model of Lead Pastor and Associate Pastor/Children, Youth, and Families has worked well, the Council chose to continue this staff structure. The Council and Lead Pastor worked together in creating this MSP.
