Prayer Guide For Prayer of Petition It is absolutely amazing that our eternal Father in heaven actually wants us to make requests to him in prayer. Jesus said, If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:11). Did you get that; he actually wants to give us what is good? Have you ever thought of how much you might be missing from the hand of God simply because you have not ask? James put it this way, You do not have, because you do not ask (James 4:2). Now look at the other side of the coin. James continues by saying, You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions (James 4:3). God loves us too much for our petition prayers to be a carte blanche deal. The passion of our lower nature can be devastating. Think what your children would be like if you gave them everything they requested. Our Father wants to give us what is good and he knows what is good. Imagine how different your life and our church could be if we grew deeper in asking God. Paul says, God can do much, much more than anything we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). What is the much more that God can and will do in our life if we only ask? Let this prayer guide lead you each day in praying for the much more. Grow deeper in your relationship with the Lord that gives you greater insight on what and how to ask.
