TM THE BIBLE MEETS LIFE: Parents, today your child heard about the prophecies concerning the birth of God s Son. Jesus was God s plan for salvation for His people. God promised a Savior, and He kept His promise! JESUS KIDS LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING God planned for Jesus from the beginning of time. PROPHETS TOLD ABOUT JESUS Isaiah was a prophet of God and told God s messages to His people. Sometimes the messages were how the people should live, but one message was very important! God gave Isaiah this message more than 700 years before Jesus was born. God told Isaiah that He would choose a special woman to have a son. This child would be named Immanuel, which means God with us. God planned to send Jesus to be the Savior. Later, Isaiah wrote about Jesus again. Isaiah said that a special child would be born and that the government would be on His shoulders. Isaiah shared that the child would be named Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. The many different names explained who Jesus is. LIVE IT OUT: Read together Isaiah 9:6. Focus on the names of Jesus. Help your child understand how each of those names apply to Jesus. Pray together, thanking God for always keeping His promises. Isaiah s third message said that Jesus would be from Jesse s family. Jesse was King David s father. Isaiah told people that the Spirit of God would be with Jesus and that Jesus would be righteous and faithful. Another prophet, Micah, also gave God s messages to His people. Micah shared that Jesus would be born in a town called Bethlehem. Micah also said that Jesus would be ruler over the nation of Israel. DAILY BIBLE READING: Sunday: Isaiah 9:6 Monday: Joshua 1:5 Tuesday: Proverbs 20:11 Wednesday: Joshua 3:9 Thursday: Ephesians 6:10 Friday: Micah 5:2 Saturday: Psalm 19:8 God promised to send Jesus, the Savior, to the world. TM THE BIBLE MEETS LIFE: Parents, today your child learned how God told Mary and Joseph about the birth of Jesus. God provided an earthly family for His Son. God planned for everything to accomplish His plan for the salvation of His people. JESUS KIDS LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING Jesus was sent to be my Savior. NAME HIM JESUS God sent the angel, Gabriel, to deliver an announcement, or message, to a young woman named Mary. Mary lived in the town of Nazareth. She was engaged to a man named Joseph. Gabriel appeared to Mary and said to her, Rejoice! The Lord is with you. Mary wondered what kind of greeting this could be. The angel said, Don t be afraid, Mary. God is pleased with you. You will have a son and will name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Mary asked, How can this happen? I am not married yet. LIVE IT OUT: God knows families are important. God provided an earthly family for Jesus through Mary and Joseph. They were part of God s plan for Jesus to be the Savior. Celebrate with your family this Christmas season. The angel replied, The Holy Spirit will make this possible. The child will be God s Son. Your relative, Elizabeth, also will have a son, even though she is old. Nothing is impossible with God. Mary replied, I am the Lord s servant. May it happen the way God wants. The angel left Mary. Later, Mary traveled to the hill country to visit Elizabeth and her husband, Zechariah. When Mary entered the house, Elizabeth exclaimed, You are the most blessed of women! Your child will be blessed! DAILY BIBLE READING: Sunday: Matthew 1:21 Monday: Daniel 3:18 Tuesday: Daniel 3:28 Wednesday: Joshua 4:24 Thursday: Daniel 3:29 Friday: Luke 2:40 Saturday: Psalm 26:3 Mary praised God, saying, My soul praises the greatness of God! His name is holy! Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months. Then she went back home to Nazareth. When Joseph found out that Mary was going to have a baby, he decided that he would not marry her. He was a kind man and did not want to treat Mary badly. One night, as Joseph was sleeping, an angel came to him in a dream. The angel said, Joseph, don t be afraid to marry Mary. Her baby is God s Son. You are to name Him Jesus because He will save His people from their sins. Joseph woke up, and he did just as the angel told him to do. TM THE BIBLE MEETS LIFE: Parents, today your child heard about the birth of the Savior, Jesus. The birth of Jesus is a demonstration of God s love for people. He loves us and sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Savior of the world. JESUS KIDS LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING Jesus is the Messiah and Savior. JESUS WAS BORN Mary and Joseph were expecting a special baby very soon. Before the baby was born, the Roman emperor, Caesar Augustus, commanded that every man must return to his hometown to be counted. Because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he and Mary left Nazareth and traveled to Bethlehem, David s town. While they were in Bethlehem, the time came! Mary gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in soft cloth and laid him in a manger (a feeding trough) because there was no other place for the new parents to stay. LIVE IT OUT: Help your child memorize Luke 2:11, the memory verse for this week. Discuss the meaning of the verse. Talk about who spoke it and to whom it was spoken. Pray with your child, thanking God for sending Jesus. DAILY BIBLE READING: Sunday: Luke 2:11 Monday: Joshua 1:7 Tuesday: Luke 1:50 Wednesday: Galatians 4:4 Thursday: Matthew 21:9 Friday: Luke 2:7 Saturday: Isaiah 7:14 Not far away, shepherds were in the field watching their flock at nighttime. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord stood before them. A bright light shone around the shepherds, and they were scared! Don t be afraid, said the angel. I have good news for you! Today in Bethlehem, the town called the City of David, a Savior has been born! He is God s Chosen One! Here s how you will find him: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, lying in a manger. Then, many angels filled the sky. They praised God and said, Glory to God in the highest heaven! Peace on earth to His people! The shepherds could not wait. They said, Let s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened! They hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the baby who was lying in a manger. The excited shepherds couldn t keep the news to themselves. They told people what they had seen and heard, praising God for sending Jesus to earth. Mary remembered everything that had happened and thought about it often. based on Luke 2:1-20 WEEKLY BIBLE VERSE Luke 2:11 TAKE IT FURTHER: Check out the Jesus Was Born section of the Bible Studies For Life: Kids Family App.

TM THE BIBLE MEETS LIFE: Parents, today s Bible story was about the wise men who visited Jesus. These men journey far to worship the One who would be the Savior. How does your family worship the Savior? JESUS KIDS LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING People can obey Jesus as a response to His love. WISE MEN VISITED JESUS Sometime after Jesus was born, wise men from the east traveled to the city of Jerusalem. No one expected them, but there they were, asking, Where is the Child who was born to be King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east, and we have come to worship Him! When King Herod heard about another King, he was very worried. He called all of the priests and scribes from Jerusalem and asked the same question, Where is Christ, the Messiah, to be born? LIVE IT OUT: Help your child find the following Scriptures in the Bible: Deuteronomy 10:12; Psalm 95:6; Romans 12:1; Revelation 14:7. As you read each verse, discuss how the verse addresses worship. Help your child understand why we should worship Jesus. DAILY BIBLE READING: Sunday: Psalm 95:6 Monday: Luke 2:14 Tuesday: Luke 2:21 Wednesday: Luke 1:32-33 Thursday: Matthew 1:23 Friday: Matthew 2:11 Saturday: 2 Corinthians 9:15 The priests and scribes looked at the scroll that the prophet, Micah, had written and discovered where Jesus would be born. In Bethlehem of Judea, the priests and scribes replied. The prophets wrote that Bethlehem was a small town, but out of that small town will come a great leader. He will take care of His people like a shepherd. Herod secretly sent for the wise men and asked them about the star they had followed. He sent them to Bethlehem with these instructions, Go and find the child. Then come back and tell me where He is so that I can worship Him, too! But Herod was not telling the truth. The king did not want to worship Jesus. The king wanted to hurt Jesus. After the wise men left the king and went on their way, there it was the star they had seen in the east! When the wise men saw the star, they were filled with joy! The star led them all the way to Bethlehem until it led them right to the house where Jesus was! The wise men went into the house and saw Jesus and His mother, Mary. They fell to their knees and worshiped Jesus. They gave Him rich gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The wise men never went back to see King Herod. God warned them in a dream not to tell the king where Jesus was. When the wise men left, they went home a different way and did not go through Jerusalem. based on Matthew 2:1-12 WEEKLY BIBLE VERSE Psalm 95:6 TAKE IT FURTHER: Check out the Wise Men Visited Jesus section of the Bible Studies For Life: Kids Family App.

You and the people get ready to cross over the Jordan River and into the land that I have promised to give them." God showed Joshua the boundaries of the land the people would possess. Then God told Joshua to lead his soldiers to march around the city one time each day for six days. Seven priests were to carry seven trumpets in front of the ark of the covenant. In a rage, Samson killed 30 Philistine men, and his bride was given to another man. Again, in anger, Samson burned the Philistines grain fields. Samson fell in love with another Philistine woman, Delilah. The Philistine leaders promised Delilah 1,100 pieces of silver if she could find the secret of Samson s strength. Over and over, Delilah begged Samson for the secret of his strength. Finally, Samson said, My hair has never been cut. If it is cut, I will lose my strength. When Samson was asleep, she called for a man to cut his hair. The Philistines captured Samson, blinded him, and put him in prison. Samuel s mother gave him to the Lord, and Samuel became a powerful prophet of God. PEOPLE KIDS LEVEL OF BIBLICAL LEARNING God wants people to communicate with Him through praying and reading the Bible daily. SAMUEL'S BIRTH AND CALLING A woman named Hannah desperately wanted a baby. She went to pray to God at the tabernacle. Lord of Hosts, she prayed, do not forget me! If You give me a son, I will give him back to You! Eli, the priest, watched Hannah as she prayed. Hannah was so upset that she was not making any sounds. Only her mouth was moving. At first, Eli thought she was acting strangely and that something was wrong with her. But Hannah explained that she was heartbroken and upset. She was praying to God. Go in peace, Eli told her. May God grant your request. And God did! Soon Hannah s son, Samuel, was born. He ran to Eli. Here I am! Samuel said. But Eli was not the one who had called. Two more times Samuel heard someone calling him. Two more times he ran to Eli. Finally, Eli realized the voice was God. The next time you hear the voice, Eli instructed Samuel, say Speak, Lord! I am listening. Samuel did exactly that. God said, Samuel, I am about to do something that will make everyone in Israel who hears about it tremble! God warned Samuel that Eli s sons had disobeyed Him and that they would be punished. The next day, Samuel told Eli the truth about what he had heard from God. Samuel grew, and God was with him. In fact, as soon as part of the scroll was read, King Jehoiakim would cut that part off with a knife and throw it into the fire! He did this until the entire scroll was burned! But God would not allow His words to be destroyed so easily. God said to Jeremiah, Take another scroll and write on it the same words I told you to write on the first scroll. Jeremiah obeyed God.
