LENT, HOLY WEEK, AND EASTER 2015 Lent is a wonderful time to focus on Jesus as he proceeds to Jerusalem and the Cross, and to travel with him as disciples. Each Lenten service, whether at the 9:00 Café Church service or 10:30 Traditional service, calls us to this journey with our Savior. We hear the hard questions he asked and the difficult choices he offers to die to self and our own self-interests and arrive with our Savior at the place of Resurrection life and hope on Easter morning. Join us for services at 10:30 each Sunday, and Café Church on the second and fourth Sundays. And be with us, and with Jesus, for Palm/Passion Sunday, Holy Week with Maundy Thursday service, and Easter Sunday all detailed below. May God bless you and give you peace during this holy season! JOIN US FOR PALM SUNDAY, HOLY WEEK, & EASTER 2015 AT PASADENA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH MARCH 29TH PALM/PASSION SUNDAY We will commemorate Palm Sunday at 10:30 worship. We invite children and youth to be there early to help hand out the palms as people enter church for the service. We will hear the Liturgy of the Palms and the Liturgy of the Passion with special music. There will be a message for children and youth and a homily by Pastor Marshall interwoven with the music. Join us for this memorable service.

I was in a Covenant Discipleship group 3 of my 4 years at Wesley Theological Seminary, and in two of the churches I have served, we started (and maintained) a Covenant Discipleship group. It's life-changing. This short Bible Study provides a way to truly learn about living in God's household and working with others. Greetings! I have exciting news for the PUMC family. BeeBop Books celebrated a 5-year anniversary with the release of a new illustrated children s book, The Worst Day Ever! Author, and owner, Debbie Reece, is the daughter of Dave Watts, and longtime member of The Pasadena United Methodist Church family. Some of you may remember her first illustrated children s book, The Christmas Pumpkin. Inspired by her son Matthew, it is the story of James, a young boy who decides to use a neglected green pumpkin to celebrate Christmas. Everyone laughs at his idea. However, his parents support him as he carves a star like the star the Three Wise Men followed to find the baby Jesus in the manger, and shows everyone what a green pumpkin can do for Christmas. She released it in 2009. It has the Dove Family Seal of Approval and several children s book awards and over 20,000 copies have sold nationwide. To celebrate the anniversary, she released another story inspired by Matthew. The Worst Day Ever! is sure to be another family favorite. James is back and having the worst of his young life at school. The story is based on actual events all happened one day while Matthew was in kindergarten. Children will giggle when he acts silly and feel sad when things do not go his way. In the end, they learn who will help him feel better, no matter how bad his day is. Parents, care-givers, teachers, and counselors are giving very positive reviews about the story and its message. Over 700 copies sold in 7 weeks! day that Debbie s stories are based on actual events that children understand, share a positive message for pre-school through elementary aged children, and include an interactive coloring page for creative expression. Debbie would like to help raise some money for Camp HOPE. For the months of February, March, and April she would like to donate a percent of sales of either The Christmas Pumpkin or The Worst Day Ever! If you are interested in ordering either of these books, you can turn the attached order form into Dave Watts OR order online at www.beebopbooks.com. These copies will be signed and can be personalized for someone. Please be sure to use the code CAMPHOPE on your order form or on your PayPal payment so that she can keep track of sales for the donations. Preferred order method is through the order form since there will be no fees for credit card processing, which allows for a larger donation to Camp HOPE. However, we do understand there is a convenience to ordering online. The book is available on Amazon; however, those sales will not be signed by the author and will not count towards this fundraiser. Inspire conversations with The Christmas Pumpkin and The Worst Day Ever! illustrated children s books. Available for author visits at your location.

Electronic Offering at PUMC E-Giving is the answer all of the time! How can I keep up with my offering when I m not in the pew? E-giving is the answer. I used to forget my checkbook or even my envelopes, now I don t worry at all. My check arrives at the church twice a month whether I m in church that Sunday or not. Working with my bank, I was able to use their FREE bill pay service to establish a bi-weekly payment to the church. Transfers can be created on a recurring basis: weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. It is completely within my control and quicker for me to cancel or change if my circumstances require. What are the benefits of automating contributions? 1. You are taking a step of faith When you sign up to give automatically you are deciding in advance to faithfully give. God blesses that kind of faith! 2. You make your life a little bit simpler You don t need to remember whether you gave this month. And if you are out of town or on vacation, you don t need to think about it. You don't even have to remember to write a check each week and bring it to church Sunday morning. 3. You will be helping the church Every person who gives through automatic giving makes our record keeping easier and helps ensure continuous monthly cash flow to cover ministry expenses particularly during the summer vacation months. 4. You can focus on worship at church Instead of having to get out a pen and write out an envelope and check, you can focus entirely on worship. 5. There are no processing fees - 100% of your gift goes to Pasadena United Methodist Church. 6. You'll still receive envelopes - You can supplement your electronic contributions at any time. For most banks you can create this transfer action directly online at the bank's website or by phone. No coordination, notification, or action by PUMC is required. Our Financial Secretary will receive notification of your funds transfer to ensure proper annotation to your giving records for the annual statement of giving that you can use for income tax filing. Your church envelopes can be used to supplement your offerings whenever you like. 1. Establish Pasadena United Methodist Church as a Payee. 2. Provide your bank with your offering envelope number, either as an "account number" or in a "memo" option within the payment statement. 3. Verify that the bank has the correct church address and phone number [61 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122; (410) 647-3090]. 4. Relax and enjoy the service! If you re interested, I d be happy to talk with you about my experience. Or you could contact Wilma Robley, the church s financial secretary for more information.
