THE LAMINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH We are a family of faith wrapping our arms around God s world and making Jesus Christ a way of life through worship, as we praise and glorify God; through study, as we listen for God s Word in body, mind and spirit; through mission, as we embody God's love in service to the world; through giving, as we express gratitude to God; through fellowship, as we love and care for one another. SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

July 1, 2018 THE ORDER OF WORSHIP SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST 10:15AM RINGING THE BELL She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, for she said, If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well. -Mark 5:27-28 PREPARATION FOR THE WORD PRELUDE WELCOME Sonata III. We do not really believe love conquers fear. We are not convinced power comes through weakness. We cannot conceive how you could heal us. Forgive our lack of faith, O God, and renew our trust in you, for we would be disciples of Jesus: in his name we pray!

SERMON A Touching Tale The Rev. Dr. Carl Wilton RESPONSE TO THE WORD * AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Nicene Creed) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated on the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son), who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge on baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Today s Worship Notes She was a nobody. An outcast. They called her unclean, unworthy. But she came. She slipped through the crowd, sidled up to him, touched the hem of his robe. Who would ever know? But he knew. He knew not only that she had touched him: he also knew the pain in her heart. And he healed her, body and spirit. She touched him, never imagining that he would touch her and heal her so profoundly. That was then. This is now. And in that now we can still reach out to him for healing.
