Thanks and God bless! Your Parish Nurses Blessing of Easter Food March 26th 11 a.m. St. John of God Chapel The blessing of the Easter Basket has been a Cherished Catholic ritual for centuries among families of Eastern European origin and adopted by people of all ethnic backgrounds who enjoy this richly symbolic custom. On Holy Saturday, families would prepare their Easter Baskets to be later blessed at church. After Easter Sunday s Resurrection Mass, the family and guests would share this blessed fare and exchange good wishes. We welcome all those who are with us this Palm Sunday and Glorious Easter Sunday. If you are not a member of this Parish but reside within our boundaries, please fill out the form below and return it next week in the collection basket. We would like to reach out to you. Christian Genocide A Message from Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz, President of the USCCB The people of God must speak up for our brothers and sisters facing genocide in the Middle East. I urge every Catholic to sign the pe on at www.stopthechris angenocide.org As people of faith we must convince the United States Department of State to include Chris ans in any formal declara on of genocide. The Catholic Church has been a voice for Chris ans and other religious minori es facing the evil of deadly persecu on. Now, the State Department is expected to make a decision within days. Resolu on H. Con Res. 75, is gaining bipar san support in Congress. Please, make sure your name is added to the witness. The very future of the ancient Chris an presence in the Middle East is at stake. With each passing day, the roll of modern martyrs grows. While we rejoice in their ul mate victory over death through the power of Jesus love, we must also help our fellow Chris ans to carry the Cross of persecu on and, as much as possible, help relieve their suffering. By doing so, the Middle east and the world will be made safe for people of every faith to live in peace. *55% of Americans agree with the presiden al candidates that the targe ng of Chris ans and other religious minori es by ISIS meets the U.N. defini on of genocide. It is genocide according to: The Interna onal Associa on of Genocide Scholars; 60 Parliamentarians from the UK; 200+ Members of Congress; Pope Francis; EU Parliament; GenocideWatch; USCIRF; and many more. FOR YOUR INFORMATION South Jersey Heating has serviced us for a while now. This past Friday, March 11th, 2016, a delivery of #2 Diesel Heating Oil was delivered to St. Raymond Church. Accidently there was an over-fill of the tank causing fuel oil to overflow the boiler room and tiled hallway. On Saturday morning a cleanup committee absorbed the liquid, but not the odor. I am in consultation with the company owners to obtain an equitable solution, and if necessary to process a claim through our insurance company for long term saturation damages and equipment damages. For you, our parishioners, we are pursuing a pro-active defense of our property and your well-being. Your knowing the truth of the event is always helpful and your patience is encouraged. If you feel uncomfortable near this area of the Church, I invite you to Saint John of God Church to worship at Saturday Mass, 4 p.m. and Sunday Mass at 10 a.m. for the near future.
