33 Days To Morning Glory Consecration Our Parish will once again host a small group retreat for the Marian Consecration, 33 Days to Morning Glory. If you have never undertaken this consecration, you are strongly encouraged to take the opportunity to do it now in this 100th Year Celebration of Our Lady of Fatima. The goal of 33 Days is to help bring you more deeply into the burning love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the fire of love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The program will lead us to formally entrust ourselves to Mary, as Christ did at the Annunciation and as He willed for His disciples to do at the foot of the cross. At the end of the program, you will have a deeper understanding of Mary and will have strengthened your relationship with Her and Her Son. You will be on the road to sainthood. The program this year will culminate with your consecration at the 5:00 pm Mass on October 7th before Bishop Olmsted. In addition to consecrating yourself to Jesus through the Blessed Mother, you will receive a Miraculous Medal, blessed by Bishop Olmsted. Many of you have previously participated in 33Days and have consecrated yourselves through Mary to Jesus. You are encouraged to undergo the 33 Days once again either on your own or through the small group retreat at the Parish. By going through the program an additional time, you will be spiritually renewed, gain a greater insight and appreciation of the Consecration and will re-kindle the fire of love for The Immaculate Heart of Mary. (You can never love Our Mother too much!) At the end of the program, you will renew your consecration to Jesus through Our Lady on October 7th and receive a brown scapular blessed by Bishop Olmsted. The book and participant s material are available on line at Amazon, at the Hearts A Fire website and at some Catholic bookstores. ROSARY CONGRESS THE POWER OF THE ROSARY After the official prayer of the Church, the Rosary is the most powerful form of prayer. It is said that in 1214, the Blessed Virgin told St. Dominic that the principal weapon the Holy Trinity relies upon to reform the world is the Rosary. Throughout history there are numerous examples showing the power of Our Lady when humanity turns to her intercession through the Rosary. A few instances worth recalling: In 1571, the Rosary crusade of Pope St. Pius V is credited with saving Christian Europe from the invading Turks. The Catholic forces won a decisive victory over the formidable Turkish armada at Lepanto. In August 1945, the Russians mysteriously withdrew their forces from occupied Austria after a mere 10% of the Austrian people pledged to say the Rosary daily. In Brazil, devout praying of the Rosary prevented an attempted communist takeover in 1954. Abortion, homosexuality, drugs, violence, sexual promiscuity and the threat of nuclear war plague our age. It is crucial, however, that the faithful not lose heart. Our Lady told Fr. Stefano Gobbi (the founder of the Marian Movement of Priests) on October 7, 1986, that one of Satan's most effective tactics is to convince good people that the forces of good cannot succeed, that "it has already become useless to make any kind of an effort to lead humanity along the road of return to God and to good." Our Lady asks us to counter this diabolical tactic with trust in her and her weapon, the Rosary. OVERVIEW A Rosary Congress is reminiscent of the Old Testament Siege of Jericho. For 7 days the faithful marched around the walls of Jericho, as God instructed them, and its walls came tumbling down. As we pray before the Blessed Sacrament for 7 days and nights, we believe we are destroying the gates of hell, fighting the princes and rulers of darkness, as they did at the first Rosary Congress in Poland in 1979. A Rosary Congress, then, is the continual praying of the Rosary in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament for seven days and nights, wrapping our country, our states, our cities, our dioceses, and our families within the Heart of Mary. Further, a Rosary Congress is the fulfillment of the requests Our Lady made at Fatima 100 years ago. Our Lady called the children of God to repentance and consecration to her Immaculate Heart. She asked for prayers and sacrifices for sinners. She asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart. On May 1, 1948, Pope Pius XII issued a special encyclical letter to all the bishops, priests, and laity throughout the world stating: It is Our wish, consequently, that whenever the opportunity suggests itself, this consecration be made in the various dioceses as well as in each of the parishes and families. And we are confident that abundant blessings and favors from heaven will surge forth from this private and public consecration. A Rosary Congress brings the Church into the safe harbor of Jesus in the Eucharist and Our Blessed Mother. This references the dream of St. John Bosco who dreamed of The Pillars of Victory Jesus in the Eucharist and true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. By praying the Rosary before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, we draw on the truths of our Faith and live our lives more closely united to Christ. On a national and international level today, it is the Rosary Congress movement that is working to firmly establish these two pillars everywhere it goes. The Rosary Congress is actually a gift from Our Lady for the pivotal work of establishing everywhere the Pillars of Victory prophesied by Don Bosco.

Recall now Sacred Scripture: The Cenacle or Upper Room in which the Eucharist was instituted at the Last Supper was also the scene of the first novena in preparation for the descent of the Holy Spirit. At His Ascension Jesus asked His disciples to return to Jerusalem and await there the Gift He would send them at Pentecost. So they gathered in the cenacle around the Holy Mother in continuous prayer. Now, Our Lady invites us to gather with her again in cenacles of prayer and fraternity to await the second Pentecost. Hence, the Rosary Congress is a cenacle of prayer that hastens the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This truly spiritual experience is a foretaste of how beautiful the world will be when humanity returns to the love and service of God. It will be that period of peace foretold by Our Lady of Fatima wherein the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus will be the center of our lives and the Holy Spirit will fill our hearts with the fire of his love to renew the face of the earth. In that spirit, a Rosary Congress desires to be nothing but a continuous cenacle. During a Rosary Congress, much time is spent in Eucharistic adoration while meditating on the central mysteries of our Faith in the prayer of the holy Rosary which help to enlighten and strengthen our Faith. All participants are enveloped in a spirit of penance and reparation for our sins and for the sins of humanity in order to call down God s mercy upon the whole world. Finally, but far from the least in importance, it is to be remembered that every Rosary Congress has the explicit desire and intention to be united with Our Holy Father, to pray for him and for his protection.

INTERNATIONAL PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA In January, 2017, Pope Francis blessed six (6) statues of The Immaculate Heart of Mary/Our Lady of Fatima and sent them to six continents of the world. The purpose of the tour in America is a nation-wide call to prayer and penance for peace in our nation and conversion of hearts. Pope Francis indicated that he also wanted these statues to catechize families and to foster a daily and monthly communion of reparation lifestyle. One of those blessed statues is coming to the Diocese of Phoenix. We are so blessed and honored that Bishop Olmsted selected Our Lady of Joy as one of the parishes to receive the statue while it is in the Diocese. As of the publishing of this booklet, OLOJ will receive the statue the morning of October 28th and She will leave to go to another parish around noon on October 30th. In response to this special honor, we have scheduled the following activities: October 28th 7:30-7:45 am Confession 8:00 am Mass + Rosary 3:30-4:30 pm 4:30-4:50 pm Rosary led by OLOJ Families 5:00 pm Mass 6:00-7:00 pm Adoration led by OLOJ Families October 29th Regular Sunday Masses + Rosary before each Mass led by OLOJ Families October 30th 7:30-7:45 am Confession 8:00 am Mass + Rosary

FAMILY CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and tender Mother of the Church, we consecrate ourselves to you and to your Immaculate Heart and recommend to your loving care our family, families in our neighborhood, and families throughout our country and the world. Please accept our consecration dearest Mother, and use this family and all families to accomplish your designs upon the world. O spouse of the Holy Spirit, kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of truly Christian family life, and the courage to witness to our faith, even at the cost of ridicule and suffering. Make our home a Marian shrine, a Eucharistic shrine, a house of prayer, a Christian fortress, and a truly domestic church, so that through us Jesus may be proclaimed as Lord and loved as Friend in many homes in our parish and country. Amen.
