Dr. Jeff Roberts, Senior Pastor jroberts@tbcraleigh.com Twitter: @Jeff Roberts In just a few weeks we will begin our journey to the cross and the celebration of resurrection, which we call Lent and Easter. For me, this journey has become the most meaningful time of the year in our church year. I love Christmas and the celebration of the birth of our Savior, but for me the journey to the cross and Easter has become a time of deep reflection and renewal. Although this type of reflection and renewal should be a constant part of our daily living, Lent and Easter give us the opportunity to focus together on this most important event of human history. This year, I am excited about our worship experiences during Lent and Easter. As part of our worship, we have planned a dramatic music series we have entitled In the Shadow of the Cross. Each week we will hear from one of the Biblical characters whose life was touched by the life of Jesus. Our Choir will be performing anthems that reflect on these monologues. My sermons will also cover the theme for the day. Our sanctuary will look a little different as well, as the cross will emerge as the visual centerpiece for our worship. I want to encourage you to make worship a priority as we join together in the shadow of the cross and make our journey to Easter. Rev. Steve Byers, slbyers@tbcraleigh.com It was another great day in worship this past Sunday featuring the Lord s Supper as well as our Student Choirs at Trinity. Isn t it a great sight to see so many students engaged in making music for the Lord in our worship? Please take the time to pray for our students and all of their activities in which they participate. Our students are preparing for their concert in April as well as their upcoming trips this year. We need you! Do you have interests or gifts in videography? I have presented to you a great need we have in our music and worship ministry over the past few weeks. We are in need of more people to join our Video Team. Every Sunday, a small team of folks provides this fantastic opportunity for people outside of the church to watch our worship service through Internet streaming via our church website. Without these people in place, we may not reach others who cannot come to worship or those who are watching our church to find out more about it. Our team needs new people to train and begin the journey. If you have gifts that can be utilized or interests in training for something new, please consider this important ministry of our church. Call me for more details. We welcome your involvement! The next Adult Choir make-up Rehearsal is scheduled for March 15, 9:00-12:00pm at TBC. This is another opportunity for us to catch-up after several missed rehearsals due to inclement weather. Let s all plan on making this a priority in our scheduling so that we will be prepared for April 13! Mark your calendars for the Easter cantata on April 13. This year, the cantata, The Majesty and Glory of the Resurrection, will be presented with orchestra in both morning worship services. Please pray for our choir and orchestra as they prepare for this important day in the church year. You will hear many of the familiar songs of Easter that we have all grown up with over the years. Many hymns are woven into medleys that remind us of the passion and the sacrifice our Lord made on our behalf of each one of us. You will not want to miss this year s presentation, and it is a great way to invite others to experience worship and fellowship at Trinity. www.lifehonestly.com Rev. Andy Jung, ajung@tbcraleigh.com s Rev. Lydia Tatum, ltatum@tbcraleigh.com Words from Lydia In just a couple of weeks, we will celebrate Ash Wednesday by examining our hearts, confessing our sins, and willingly receiving the Imposition of Ashes as we mark the beginning of our journey through Lent. Lent is the time leading up to Easter where Christians for thousands of years have chosen to reflect on their own lives and the gravity of the sacrifice made by Christ on our behalf. Traditionally, Christians have chosen to fast as a way to practice spiritual discipline to experience their inward journey to the cross. The most traditional fast has been from meat. But, over the years, many have chosen to fast from the things that tend to draw from their relationship with God. Some chose to give up t.v. or facebook. Others choose to give up poor habits. Still others choose to add a spiritual discipline or practice to their daily habits. Over the next couple of weeks, I encourage you, parents, to have family discussions about how you will experience Lent this year as a family and individually. What are some things that might stand in the way of you focusing more on your relationship with God that may need to be removed? What are some distractions that tend to get in the way Youth Basketball Banquet Monday, March 3 6:00pm Cost: $5/person Come celebrate another successful basketball season with all of the other Trinity teams! Rev. Karen Metcalf Eickhoff, kmetcalf@tbcraleigh.com Families: Making the Day of Worship Special Have you ever thought about how to prepare Sunday or the Day of worship in a special and unique way for your family? Carla Babb, cbabb@tbcraleigh.com Words from Carla I hope you enjoyed the warmer weather! It was so nice to see the sun shine and feel the warmth upon us. As we build on the faith foundations in our families, remember to be intentional in making time for each other. It will not just happen; it must be something we prioritize and make part of our everyday routine. Set aside a time for a family devotion. Even if it is just going around the table and everyone naming Volunteers Needed something they are thankful for. It is a start for little and big hearts to begin developing into thankful ones!
