RASHTRIYA SANSKRIT VIDYAPEETHA, TIRUPATI University Established. u/s. 3 of UGC Act, 1956 under MHRD, Govt of India REPORT on MATRUBHASA DIVASA ASA- 2015 The Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati organized the Matribhasha Diwas (Mother Tongue Day) to promote the mother tongues and cultures of the Nation in a prestigious manner. In connection with this, so many competitions have been organized in various languages. Vagvardhini Parishad, one of the active literary wings of Vidyapeetha was entrusted the responsibility to conduct the programme as per the instruction issued by the MHRD, Govt of India New Delhi, vide the letter Dated 30 th January, 2015. The Co-ordinator, Dr. C.Ranganathan and Additional Coordinator, Dr. Bharat Bhusan Rath organized the Programme in a smooth way. The Parishad organized 4 (four) types of competitions among all the students of Vidyapeetha in their mother tongues only. The four Competitions are Essay Writing Competition, Elocution Competition, Quiz Competition and Group Song Competition. 178 (One Hundred Seventy Eight) numbers of students i.e. Prak Sastri (Intermediate Level) to Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D level) students have participated in the competitions held in their respective mother tongues. All total 11 (Eleven) Languages have been used by the participants. They are as follows - 1. Bengali 2. Hindi 3. Kannada 4. Marathi 5. Malayalam 6. Maithilee 7. Odia 8. Olchiki 9. Sanskrit 10. WEL-COME TO THE GUESTS BY PROF. HAREKRISHNA SATAPATHY, HON BLE VICE-CHANCELLOR ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION: The Essay writing competition was organized on 20 th February 2015 at 9 a.m. in the Seminar Hall 1 of Academic Building. 35 students from ten Languages have participated in this event. GLIMPSES OF ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION ELOCUTION COMPETITION: SESSION I PLACE: PADMASHREE RAMARANJAN MUKHERJEE AUDITORIUM The Elocution competition was organized on 20 th February 2015. It was organized in two various places. Padmashree Ramaranjan Mukharjee Auditorium was the venue for competition on Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Maithili, Kannada and Malayalam Languages. It was started at 10 a.m. in the presence of a large number of students and Faculty members. 40 students from these RASHTRIYA SANSKRIT VIDYAPEETHA: TIRUPATI A.P Page 3

Languages have participated in this event. Concerned Language experts were the Judges to conduct the competition. GLIMPSES OF ELOCUTION COMPETITION IN SESSION I ELOCUTION COMPETITION: SESSION II PLACE: SEMINAR HALL - I The Second session of Elocution Competition was organized in Seminar Hall 1 of Academic Building. It saw the competition in Sanskrit, Bengali, Odia and Olichiki languages. It was started at 11 a.m. in the presence of concerned language experts and students of various parts of the country studying in the Vidyapeetha. 40 students have taken part in this session. QUIZ COMPETITION ON MOTHER LANGUAGES Quiz Competition was the most interesting event. Questions from all the corner of India were asked by the Quiz Master Dr. C.Ranganathan. The questions were prepared from the Literary, Cultural and Historical back ground of the provinces of all the students. We also tried to ask all the questions by the own languages of the participants, in which a student could feel the rhythm of the mother tongue. It was conducted at 2 p.m. in Padmashree Ramaranjan Mukharjee Auditorium. 60 students have participated in this competition. For quiz competition 4 groups i.e. 1.Ganga 2. Yamuna 3.Saraswati and 4. Godavari were constituted. Each group has constituted with 15 students from various languages. The Godavari group got the 1 st Prize in Quiz Competition. GLIMPSES OF QUIZ COMPETITION GROUP SONG COMPETITION: Sanskrit Group Song Competition was conducted on the second day on 21.02.2015 in various mother languages. It was conducted at 9 a.m. in Padmashree Ramaranjan Mukherjee Auditorium. 9 groups of 48 students have participated in this competition and recited the song with their mother languages only. FUNCTION OF MATRIBHAS BHASHA A DIWAS The Matribhasha Diwas was celebrated on 21 st February 2015 at 10 a.m. with a grand celebration in Padmashree Ramaranjan Mukharjee Auditorium. Prof. P.V.Arunachalam the Former Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University Kuppam and a noted Language expert was the Chief Guest of the Function. He explained the History of Indian Languages from Vedic Period to till date in a very effective manner. Prof. K.Sarvottam Rao, Former Professor of Telugu Language of Sri Venkateswar University Tirupati and a Prominent Linguist was the Saraswata Guest of the Function. He explained the voice of our mother land and mother languages with recitation of some melodious poetic stanzas. Prof. Radhakant Thakur, the Dean of Academic Affairs was the Honorary Guest who told that Mother Tongue will purify our inner evil thinking. The President of the Function Prof. Hare Krishna Satapathy, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha highlighted the significant value of our Mother Tongue. He mentioned the measures, the Vidyapeetha has already taken to promote various mother languages through different activities of Vagvardhini Parishad, Tulasi Das Hindi Club and Annamaya Sahitya Kala Parishad. Dr. C.Ranganathan, Coordinator delivered the introductory address and was the master of ceremony of the function. Dr.Bharat Bhusan Rath, Addl.Coordinator proposed the Vote of thanks. For Quiz and Group Song competitions the group has got 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and Consolation prizes and all the students of group have got the participation certificates. GLIMPSES OF PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONEY JUDGES OF THE COMPETITIONS: The Vagvardhini Parishad invited some faculty members those who know various languages to be the Judges of the Competitions. They are Prof. Satyanarayan Acharya, Dr. K.Ganapati Bhatt, Dr. Krishneswar Jha, Dr. D.Nalanna, Dr. Paramita Panda, Dr. D.Jyoti, Dr. O G P Kalyana Sastry and Dr. Keshav Mishra.
