We had a reasonable cruising season. The Halloween celebrations mean that Thanksgiving and Christmas are not far behind. I ll bet we all enjoyed the extra hour of sleep we got early November. Our fall tour was excellent. It was a beautiful autumn day and we visited a Museum and Coal Mine in Lansford, PA. Given the working conditions of the miners, we all gained a greater appreciation for the way things are today. A few of our members participated in the Phillipsburg/ Easton Halloween Parade and then we celebrated Halloween with a great Costume Party/Dinner/Dance at the Allen Township fire hall in Northampton, PA. The next holiday is Thanksgiving and the club will again donate turkeys and trimmings to the Salvation Army for distribution. The surprise and gratitude of the recipients is always heartwarming.
Our Christmas party is December 14 th at 1:00PM. We will again be at the Ingersol Rand Cafeteria in Phillipsburg, NJ. The menu is the same as last year and I m sure our host, Ron Saweski, will see that we are all well fed. We will also do a gift exchange and all interested in participating are requested to bring a wrapped $10.00 gift. This will be our last meeting of the year. Three tellers will count your ballots for the officers and board members for 2015. We will also be finalizing the changes to our By-Laws for 2015. In closing I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas. Thank you all for everything you do for our club! Sincerely, John V. After being Treasurer of the Lehigh Valley Region for 8 years, I have decided it was time for someone else to take over the job. I enjoyed being Treasurer and I will miss it. Gilda Hendershot will make an excellent treasurer. I started out being the newsletter editor in 2002 and over the years took on more and more responsibilities. However, I need to take some time for myself and I hope that other members are ready and willing to take over some of them. If you want to know what you can do to help just ask and I will help you to find something. Maybe you could start with writing a story about your car that we can use in the newsletter. Pictures below: Joe & Mary Jane Pokojni and John Mitzak delivering 24 Turkeys with stuffing and gravy to the Salvation Army Captain. Donated from your club. Halloween Dance: The Halloween Dance was held on November 1, 2014 at the Allen Township Fire Co. for the first time. We enjoyed being waited on and not having to cook the food. The hall was set up for us when we got there and the desserts (made by our club women) and food were great. There were many famous people attending; Superman and Superwoman, Duck Dynasty, Amish Guy, Leprechaun, Pirates, Steelers Super fan and a Puppet on a string. The 29 th ANNUAL DREAM COME TRUE TELETHON takes place live on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. RCN customers in the Lehigh Valley (Channel 4, 1004 in HD), The goal of the telethon is to increase awareness of Dream Come True, an organization that raises funds to grant dreams to children who are terminally, chronically, and severely ill. A popular component of the telethon each year is the auction. This year, we are introducing a new, on-line auction. The bidding will start Monday, November 24 and end Monday, December 8.

BEHIND THE MOTOMETER TWAS THE NIGHT Twas the month before Christmas and all thru the region, No car shows were held, not even a smidgen, With Antiques jacked up in garages with care. In hopes that the rust, wouldn t get there. With me in my long johns and wife in her quilt (after going to church to assuage all our guilt) When what to our wondering ears should we hear, But a big Block V-8, floored, in second gear. Throughout all the hills the echo did ring, My thoughts, of course, went to antiques and spring. Memories of car shows danced through my head Until my wife, in anguish, she said, Wake up, my dear spouse, he s right on our lawn!! And right at this point my awareness did dawn. I grabbed my shotgun and turned on the light, And there midst the holly was a horrible sight. Doing donuts galore in the mud and the muck, Was a high-rider pickup that was almost stuck. As all four fat tires continued to spin, For our guest had found a 20 th century sin, He d seen it on TV and it looked like such fun. Right then the driver spotted me and my gun, So putting his thumb right up to his nose, He wiggled his fingers and then off he goes. If I had shot him I d been put in jail, Mid hopes that this region would post me my bail. So happy motoring to all, for it is such fun, And remember my friends---hide those shells for you gun!
