From the initial planting, mulching, and harvesting of potatoes; to the volunteers who brought materials for making blankets, and those who bought tickets for the donated quilt. We also thank our coordinators and Marcia Buchs, for taking fabulous pictures of our events! 2017 1 Corinthians 12:4

From the Interim Pastor Church Council Minutes August 14, 2017 ATTENDANCE: Dan Harms, Don Brucker, Pastor Tom, Tracy Harms, Terry Bose, Dan Kukuck, Mike Petersen, Lindsey Rinkenberger, Elton Mau, Suzie Kukuck Pastor Tom opened the meeting with devotions about God s mercy and forgiveness. Jamie Witte from Church Mutual reviewed our policy and coverage. She will be sending some additional quotes for added coverage for the council to review. Secretary s Report: The July 10 minutes were read. Dan K. motioned to approve the minutes and Don seconded. Motion carried. Financial Reports: Mike went over the July reports. Lindsey motioned to accept and Don seconded. Motion carried. Pastor s Report: Pastor shared his July report. Terry motioned to approve, and Dan K. seconded. Motion carried. Old Business: P & L Construction gave a bid of $500.00 for repair of the two doors near the organ, the east door, and the back door. Dan K. motioned to accept the bid and Elton seconded. Motion carried. Dan Harms discussed with Kent Petersen regarding the cemetery paying a portion of the cost to repair and seal the asphalt. The church will pay $7482.00 and the cemetery costs will be $2598.00. Don motioned to accept the bid and Elton seconded. Motion carried. Mike made a motion to purchase a new microphone/headset using memorial money and Tracy seconded. Motion carried. New Business: After discussion among the council a motion was made by Lindsey and seconded by Tracy to allow Pastor Tom to set up a discussion regarding Same Gender Marriages. Kori Yergler has returned from her 11 month mission trip and would like to share with us some of her Council Members Dan Harms experiences. This has Suzie Kukuck tentatively been set for September 17 th. Pastor Tom shared with us that he has added pages to the Trinity website that will include Immanuel s monthly newsletter. From the Pastor Trick or Treat meals A free, simple hot dog meal is served to the public (all children & families) during trick or treating (4:30-7:00) Halloween, October 31 at Trinity Lutheran Church! Reformation Sunday October 29 Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax + Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury will celebrate the 500 th Anniversary of the Reformation with St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chatsworth St. John Lutheran Church, Cullom @ St. Paul Lutheran Church, Forrest 2:08 p.m. Music on the Move November 5 The Prairie Central Clergy Association (PCCA) invites you to Fairbury to share a progressive style musical celebration. We begin with the Immanuel Chime Choir, and the vocals of Melissa Nagel, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The afternoon goes like this: 1:30-1:45pm @ Trinity Lutheran 2:00-2:15pm @ 1 st Presbyterian 2:30-2:45pm @ Faith Fellowship 3:00-3:15pm @ 1 st Baptist 3:30-3:45pm @ 1 st Methodist + coffee house Thanksgiving Immanuel Lutheran Church is invited to an early Thanksgiving potluck meal at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury on Sunday, November 12 starting about 11:00am. Turkey will be provided. Communion Immanuel Lutheran Church Council leaves it up to parents to decide if their children may celebrate Communion before they are confirmed. This invitation begins now, in this month of the 500 th anniversary of the Reformation. Children with permission may reach out for Communion, and children waiting to commune are asked to cross their arms, that they may hear a blessing. LGBTQ The afternoon of December 3 Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax will hold its first discussion about ministry with LBGTQ persons. We will begin with the basics: How do we read the Bible? With 72% voting in favor September 17, Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury decided the pastor may preside at weddings of people who are LGBTQ.

C o n g re g at i on A ct i vi t i e s Members of Both Immanuel and Trinity Lutheran are invited to an All-Church Wiener Roast on Sunday, October 8th at 5:00 pm. Connie Petersen has offered to host this event at her home located at 29162 E. 1900 North Rd., Cooksville (2 miles east of Cooksville on Hwy 165). Those who are able to attend are asked to bring a dish to share, wiener roasting sticks, and lawn chairs. Hot Dogs, Buns, Drinks and Table service will be provided. LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF 2017 For the many things you do... Hi GaryTHANK YOU SO MUCH for all of the beautiful potatoes!!!! We gave them out yesterday + everyone loved them SO much. Everyone was super excited how fresh they were and that they had just been harvested just for them. That doesn't happen to our neighbors in West Humbolt park very often! Your generosity and love and compassion are what have made me love Immanuel and I couldn't be more proud to be a member of this church! ~ Briana Smith Dear Friend, Thank you for your generous donation of potatoes on September 11 to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We distribute food to those in need on Mondays at Holy Trinity Church Parish Center. In July we provided 1300 families with groceries helping to feed 4907 children and adults. The Colfax Restoration Project greatly appreciates the delicious breakfast the Immanuel Lutheran Church served on our Town Improvement Day on September 23.
