January 25-31, 2019 Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Brookfield, CT (203) 775-9070 E-mail: poplutheranchurch@sbcglobal.net Website: princeofpeacebrookfield.org Pastor Mark Nordskog Vicar Dan Purtell Announcements Weekly Update Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be held this Sunday, January 27 th between worship services, beginning at 9:15 a.m. The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss and vote on the 2019 Church Budget and the 2019 Cemetery Budget. We will also elect the 2019 Nominating Committee. Everyone is welcome. Only members of the church can make a motion and vote. The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19 Sunday School will be held during the Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, but Adult Forum will not be held. Adult Forum will resume on Sunday, February 3. Many Worship Assistants are needed for February & March services. Please sign up on the table in the Narthex or call Rene in the church office if you can help. Tickets for Pastor Mark s retirement party will be sold for the next three weekends after the Saturday evening service and between worship services on Sunday. The final date that you can purchase tickets will be Sunday, February 10 th, so please purchase them before that date. The brunch will be held at noon at the Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield. The tickets are $45 for adults and $22 for children under 14. Children under 5 are free.

After the worship services on February 2 nd and 3 rd our Confirmation students will be collecting money and the food items listed below. The food items will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Pantry in Danbury. The money will be donated to hunger fighting agencies chosen by the Confirmation students. Please give generously to help feed the hungry. The following list represents the bag of food that is given to a client at the Daily Bread Food Pantry. If you can purchase all of these items, you will have supplied one household with their monthly food donation from Daily Bread. 1 meal in a can 1 tomato sauce 2 vegetables - any combo 1 pork and bean 1 goya bean 1 pasta 1 bag of rice 1 can of fruit 1 or 2 mac/cheese 1 or 2 tuna Those wishing to write a check to support the Souper Bowl can make it out to Prince of Peace and put Souper Bowl in the memo line.

You are cordially invited to a Tea for the Women of the Church Sunday, February 10 at 2:00 PM This is an opportunity to socialize with each other as well as discuss interests in possible Bible Study and the proceeds from the Holiday Craft Fair. Time is precious for our women and we hope to get a group together over a cup of tea. Please give this some thought and bring your ideas to an informative and pleasant meeting. Contact Nan Carlson (203-778-1171) if you are willing to bring a little treat or crumpets for those who attend. A sign-up sheet is in the Narthex.
