Today s sermon text is from: Daniel 5:30-6:5 (NKJV) B e l s h a z z a r s F a l l 30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. 31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old. T h e P l o t A g a i n s t D a n i e l 6 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; 2 and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. 3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. 4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then these men said, We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

HEROES OF THE FAITH Week 8 The Conclusion - Daniel Darius the Great was king of the Persian Empire for 36 years. He made 120 princes to help him rule. He set up 3 presidents over these 120 princes. And the 1 st president was Daniel a Jew. The name Daniel means Judge of God. He was preferred by the king because of his excellent spirit. whoever petitions any god or man for 30 days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions. (Daniel 6:7b) Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with the windows opened toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees 3 times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God as was his custom since early days. (Daniel 6:10) It s a good thing that the lions didn t try to eat Daniel, because he was 50% grit and 50% backbone. (Charles Hayden Spurgeon) O king, live forever! My God has sent His angel and shut the lion s mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you. (Daniel 6:22) So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God. (Daniel 6:23b) The wicked have set traps for others, and they have been caught themselves. (Psalm 7:15)
