I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it. As a community we should be very proud of our Spring Walks. The men and women on the Teams, that said yes to the Lord that they would step in the gap. Their sacrifices and hard work will be a blessing to the pilgrims that you send. Remember, no one in this ministry is unimportant. There are many opportunities for you to step in the gap for our Emmaus Community. Please make an effort to attend the many amazing events for the Spring Walks. Remember, it only gets better and better. Tomorrow will be better then today. The question that many ask is, what can I do? The answer is simple, pray, pray and pray some more. The community needs you and God needs you to step in the gap for Him. Rex Mayfield Community Lay Director
Page 2 A Message From Our Spiritual Director Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples. Luke 11:1b Of all the things that the disciples could have asked the Lord to teach them, they asked Him to teach them to pray. They didn t ask for teachings on spiritual gifts, or on organizing a ministry. They didn t ask to be taught about stewardship or evangelism. Nope. Teach us to pray. Rev. Tammy Estep often said that we would see the same kind of power at work in the worship services in our churches that we see on an Emmaus weekend if we were as devoted to prayer for our weekly worship as we are for the Walk to Emmaus. I agree. As most of you are aware, prayer is a priority in every aspect of the Walk to Emmaus. At each Emmaus Board meeting, we take time to pray specifically for any and all prayer concerns that are brought before us. We also maintain an Emmaus prayer chain that is referenced in each newsletter. In the teaming process, weekly prayer partners are assigned, so that every team member is prayed for personally each week. During the weekend itself, the Emmaus community conducts a prayer vigil over the entire 72 hours of the weekend. As each speaker gives a talk, a prayer partner lifts them up in the prayer chapel. No wonder God shows up in spectacular ways on Emmaus weekends! Like Jesus disciples, if I could choose one thing for a disciple to be devoted to, it would be prayer. You know, it s not just the specific answers to prayer that excite me. It is the relationship with the Lord that is communicated in prayer that is most precious to me. I get to have intimate conversation with my Father, who delights in giving good things to His children, just because they ask. My friends: ASK! Pastor Travis DeLoach
Page 3 Eastern Shore Chrysalis Fly With Christ! Brothers And Sisters In Christ, Please continue to be in prayer for our Chrysalis Community and the members of its board as we seek God s guidance for the best way to serve our youth. As a board, we made the decision to attend the recent Chrysalis R.U.S.H. in the Tidewater Community. So, on February 20 th a small number of our group did so and had a time of fellowship with the youth and leadership of that group. Our hope in doing this was to gain insight and possible suggestions of ways to revitalize our community. Also, we wished to make connections with them that would result in being able to send any prospective caterpillars from our area to Tidewater to participate in their future flights. Those that attended this brief but enjoyable R.U.S.H. were encouraged by the information that was gained, and also by seeing a group of about 30 young people in fellowship together. Flights in the Tidewater community occur once a year in January, and after conversations with their leadership; applications have been obtained for those flights. So, once again be in prayer for the guidance and direction of our community; but also, be aware that if you have any youth that you feel would benefit from the Chrysalis experience that sending them to Tidewater is a possibility. As always, we would welcome your support and input at our board meetings and would invite you to attend. Our next meeting will be held on March 28 th at 7PM. We look forward to seeing you there to support the youth of our community. Blessings Through Christ, Steve Johnson Chrysalis Board

The excitement of teaming has begun, and the teams are already praying for the pilgrims that the Lord has planned to attend. For you that have pilgrims that have said "yes", let's get those applications in! For those waiting on an answer, keep praying! For those who God has placed someone on your heart, ask! For those who won't be sponsoring someone this spring, ask around and see if you can help someone else sponsor someone! Don't forget you can help financially by donating to the scholarship fund, or directly help someone who might be sponsoring several people. We can all help by writing agape, too! Of course the most important thing for ALL of us is to pray. De Colores John Sutton
Page 6 Prayer Chain Thoughts from Dr. Charles Stanley On The Power Of Prayer: 2 Chronicles 20:1-15 From Scripture, we see the importance and effectiveness of praying with spiritual authority. Elijah, for example, boldly challenged the prophets of Baal because he knew the Lord would hear and answer. And King Jehoshaphat sought God for direction and strength and called upon the nation to do the same. Their examples teach what is required for prayer to be powerful: Dependence on God. The petitions of both men showed deep reliance upon the Lord. Knowing that victory over Israel s enemies was beyond their own abilities, they asked God to intervene. A focus on His plan. Elijah did things God s way against tremendous odds and at great personal risk (1 Kings 19:1-2). Jehoshaphat called for the nation to fast as he sought to discover the Lord s plan. Because they looked to God for a strategy, they both had a clear goal that led them through the difficulties they faced. Purity of motive. Both leaders had God-centered intentions and a goal of furthering His purposes. They weren t trying to gain anything for themselves. Confidence in God s faithfulness. Neither man hesitated to ask publicly for divine help. Elijah told the plan to the 450 enemy prophets, and Jehoshaphat called upon all of Israel to join him in intercession. If your prayers seem to be having little impact, ask yourself, Have I been relying upon my own strength to resolve matters? Is there a selfish basis for my request? Am I lacking confidence in God (James 1:5-7)? If so, turn to the Lord, confess, and seek to follow the example of Elijah and Jehoshaphat. With these words in mind regarding the power of prayer, I d like to invite you to join the Emmaus Prayer Team by contacting EmmausPrayerTeam@gmail.com.
