July 30, 2017 Page 5 RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Who are the People Who Join our Church Today? Young people who are planning to marry in the Catholic church are a major part of the group that enters this program. At this time in their lives, these young couples wish to share their faith lives and values by establishing a religious base for this relationship. Young parents who are expecting their first child, or parents who may have a child starting school often find this to be the right time to join a faith community that will help them find God in their lives and expand their moral values. People who were baptized but never felt related to a religion. These people feel it is time to enter into a personal relationship with God. People who have not been baptized, for whatever reason feel that now is the time to begin a journey with God. As they interact with their Catholic neighbors they realize there is something missing in their lives that needs to be fulfilled. They are attracted to the Catholic Church and the family atmosphere that is offered. People who have experienced grief and tragedy in their lives are now seeking to understand it. So often we hear people say, "I have a Catholic friend or neighbor who went through the same thing that I am going through and their faith seemed to sustain and comfort them. I want to find a faith like that." People from all backgrounds are seeking God in their lives. We all look for answers for Life and Death questions to questions about God and ourselves. Whatever your reason we welcome you to join us in becoming a Catholic through the RCIA program. The Rite of Christian Initiation ofadults is a program by which the Catholic Church welcomes new members into its communal life. The RCIA program is a living experience ofthe church, and NOT just a series ofclasses to teach you about Christianity. There are discussions about the facts of the faith. These sessions are only one part of the experience of living the faith. This program allows you to learn and share with others who are on the same journey-living the faith with members of the Church. For more information about the RCIA program, please contact the rectory at (773) 646-4877. From the Pastor's Desk Dear "To Teach Who Christ Is" donor, In addition to the other information regarding this collection, please remember that the program was meant to take 5 years to help you spread your donation over time. Some ofyou have already given the entire sum of money that you pledged. The 60% from the program goes directly into our parish account. Anything above that we get 100%. At the end ofthe 5 year period we hope to use the money to purchase a new boiler for our Church. This is way overdue! If you have any questions about your pledge, please call (312) 534-8500. Thank you for your generosity and please continue fulfilling your pledge. St. Florian is counting on you! Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor A big thank you to all who took part in the "To Teach Who Christ Is" Campaign. We appreciate your generosity. The Archdiocese credits us every month with 60% of your CURRENT payments. Some people are DRAMATICALLY delinquent in their payments which slows down our goal. We really can't move forward until we receive most of the funds for the boiler. If you have any questions about your payments, please call the Archdiocese at 312-534-8500. Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor
