February 2019 Ottawa Evangelical United Methodist Church Newsletter Striving to connect with god, each other, and the world. Super Bowl Sunday is just around the corner. Patriots vs. Rams this year! I am not a big football watcher, but I have tried not to miss the Super Bowl game every year because it gives me a big thrill to watch not only the best two teams play, but also the performance of a pop singer during the half time. My favorite part! I have one question for you. What makes you thrilled and excited? I feel much more thrilled and excited through ministries and missions of churches than Super Bowl Game. I feel much more thrilled and excited when I do something with our kids and youth. Confirmation Class is undergoing, and cooking class and family pool party are coming. Let s do more fun, exciting, and meaningful things with our kids and youth! God always loves children and youth! And, they are our future! In 2019, I am looking forward to Guatemala Mission. Linda, Zach, and I will go down to Guatemala in May. We will be getting out of our comfort zone and trying to experience God who is working in Guatemalans and ministries of missionaries Craig and Peggy. I would like to ask two congregations to support us through your prayers and concerns. For the mission trip, we set a goal to raise $3,000.00 to support Zach fully, to aid Linda and I to get air flight tickets, and to support Craig and Peggy s missions. We will be bringing not only our physical bodies, but also your support, prayers, and hearts with us to Guatemala in May. Please, join our mission trip as a supporter! In addition, I am looking forward to Confirmation Celebration in May. Eight confirmands from Leland UMC have been working hard to learn about God, Church, and history of faith, to visit different churches, and to do the variety of missions and activities. I can t wait to see their big celebration in God s family and their new faith journey as a member of Leland UMC. Afterward, 2019-2020 confirmation class with youth from Evangelical UMC will be followed from September. I am very looking forward to my first confirmation class at Evangelical, too. Lastly, I am also looking forward to New Membership Class in Leland and Welcome Party. Let us try together to make disciples of Jesus Christ to transform the world with God s love, grace, and mercy. God will be pleased with our missions and ministries that take care of others in need. That s the most thrilled and excited things in the world! God s blessings to you and your family in February!
