WEATHER ADVISORY POLICY If Greene County issues a Level 2 or 3 road condition advisory for our area, Sunday or Wednesday night church services/activities will be canceled. If a Level 1 condition is issued, but it is determined by our Transitional Pastor, in consultation with the Chairman of Deacons, that sidewalks and parking lot conditions are unsafe, an announcement will be placed on television stations and Facebook. Our Transitional Pastor, Tim Binns, will determine the need for closures during normal weekday office hours.
Tim Binns - Tim s Thoughts Can you believe that Spring is almost here? I have begun to dread every snow cloud this winter. It seems like we have been hit hard this winter. However, with March coming, we are getting ready for new growth to occur in our flower gardens. We will see some of our bulbs start to sprout up from the ground. As we think of this new growth, our church has a couple of opportunities to impact the kingdom. The first activity we have coming will be the Saturate Dayton event. Our church has joined a number of other churches to try and place a copy of the Jesus video in every home in our area. This video is actually a DVD with 3 movies and in 8 different languages. It is a powerful tool that has already impacted many communities in the United States. It will cost our church nothing financially,; however, we will need volunteers to hang it on doors throughout Fairborn. Watch for more information in the church bulletins. The second activity is a new personal evangelism emphasis called Who s your One? It is being presented by Pastor Johnny Hunt and SBC President J.D. Greear. It is to challenge every church member to live on mission by selecting one person from their circle of influence and seeking opportunities to share the gospel with that one. Will you accept the challenge? I pray that you will. Coffee Stand Help Needed Do you love coffee? Do you like to see people smile as they walk into the door at church first thing on Sunday? If you answered yes to both of these questions, please consider helping with the coffee stand in the Foyer before Sunday School. Coffee helpers will need to arrive at 8:15 pm to start brewing coffee in the kitchen. The coffee stand closes down for cleanup at 9:10 pm. Without an extra set of hands, we will not be able to continue providing weekly coffee service by the Welcome Center. Please contact Brittany Fouts (brittany.keen@gmail.com) or Tracy Clifton for more details. Rev. Daniel Young - Grace Notes I am Esau your firstborn; I have done as you told me. Get up, please, sit and eat of my game, that you may bless me (Gen. 27:19). This is the first statement Jacob makes when he engages in the premeditated crime of thievery. He has conspired with his mother Rebekah, and he is now lying to his father Isaac so that he can steal from his brother Esau. Isaac, who sent Esau out earlier is now surprised that Esau has returned with the food so quickly, so he inquires, How is it that you have it so quickly, my son? (v.20a). Thinking on his feet, Jacob continues and embellishes his elaborate lie and said, Because the Lord your God caused it to happen to me (v.20b). Jacob has victimized his entire family in one way or another, and now Jacob is also lying about God. Surely God has not helped him conspire with his mother, lie to his father, or steal from his brother. Here we see God showing tremendous restraint and mercy because He doesn t strike Jacob dead. Instead God allows the conversation to continue, not because He approves of the lying and the stealing, but because He has greater plans for Jacob in the future. I see God s grace on our church in a similar way. We are all sinners, and none of us deny it. But we lack the conviction to confess specific sins. We lack the desire to turn from our sinful ways. We conceal our sinfulness before one another, as Jacob concealed his true identity from his father. But God knows who each of us is. And He has great plans for us and for our church if we will be honest with ourselves and with Him.
