TRUST CHRIST Spiritual Outcome Defined: A firm belief that Jesus is who He claimed to be, reconciling us to God. Inviting and relying on Him to be the leader of my life on a daily basis, and acknowledging that He has my best interests in mind. Either this man was, Spiritual Outcome Described: and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or When it comes to trusting Christ with our life, we trust with something worse. different levels of readiness, openness, and reservations. C.S. Lewis Some of us are quick to trust Christ to save us from hell while others of us are hesitant to trust Christ when making decisions regarding our finances, dating life, or career moves. Although there is a decision to be made, trusting Christ is not just a one-time decision. Our daily lives are filled with hundreds of decisions that we should invite Christ into. I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Putting our trust in the person of Jesus Christ is the beginning of the journey in our relationship with God. Despite our vast knowledge of God, the Bible, doubts or uncertainties, trusting Christ is simply acknowledging that Jesus is who He claimed to be the Son of God, and the only way to have a relationship with God the Father. Sure, we would love to know all things about God and the scriptures, and although this is fun to explore and learn about, none of this is necessary to trust Christ. Jesus says, I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 His sacrifice on the cross was the payment for our sins that make this Trust Christ I Study I Page 1

journey with God possible. God s gift of His son restores the relationship God intended and grants us eternal life to whoever will trust in Him. Trusting Christ has huge implications on growth, it s a daily choice. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 Evidence of this Spiritual Outcome in a Person s Life: Has experienced the forgiveness of sin in one s life. Can articulate a moment(s) where you invited Jesus to be the leader of your life. Trust Jesus is the Son of God, and only way to access our Father God. Recognizes that Jesus has our best interests in mind in how we ought to live. Trust Christ I Study I Page 2
