Open our hearts to you as we journey through this Lent. Help us to see Jesus in everyone we meet. Teach us to be true friends of one another and to serve Jesus in all persons, especially the poor, the sick and the lonely. Guide us in being generous and forgiving. May we follow faithfully, tell courageously and live joyfully the Good News of Jesus Christ. By your grace, may our prayers and sacrifices this Lent help us to grow closer to each other and to you, as one family in Jesus. We make this prayer to you in His name. Note: 1 st Friday Hour of Prayer will not take place during Lent so that we may be able to attend Stations of Many of us at different points in our lives have felt alone, rejected and judged; in these moments, it becomes obvious that each of us has a deep desire to be accepted and loved. God created us as men and women; his intention for men and women is that they complement one another in the ways that they are distinct. We as men and women are equal, but that doesn't mean same, we reflect the image of God, that we were created in, in different ways. Join us for our next Life Night on Sunday, March 10th, from 4:45-6:45pm, where we will explore what it means to be a body-soul composite and how being man or woman is not merely a physical description, but goes far deeper than just what our DNA says. We look forward to seeing you there! Invite your friends too! 4

REGULATIONS FOR FASTING & ABSTINENCE. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. FASTING is to be observed by all 18 years of age and older, who have not yet celebrated their 59 th birthday. On a fast day, one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one s need, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed. ABSTINENCE is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter. 5

Below is just one of the many CD titles available in our Lighthouse Media Collection: Could God Love Someone Like Me? Fr. Mike Schmitz, one of the leading presenters in the Church today, speaks powerfully about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He makes clear the truth that Christ deeply loves and wants to encounter each of us as we are, with all our imperfections. Fr. Mike debunks the lies we often believe about not being good enough to approach Jesus, and he draws upon Scripture to explain rationally why we go to priests to encounter God s mercy and forgiveness in Confession. Lent With the Saints Prayer. Fasting. Works of charity. These are the basics of Christian spiritual life and the three important pillars of Lent. No one knew their importance better than the saints. In fact, those countless holy men and women became saints by intensifying their life of prayer, multiplying their acts of self-denial, and increasing their acts of charity to their neighbors. This Lent become more devoted to prayer, fasting, and charity by imitating the saints. 300 Club Tickets Tickets for 2019 are available for $25!
