Old York Road Temple-Beth Am February 28 th, 7:30 pm, 4 th Annual "Disability Awareness and Inclusion Shabbat, an inspirational and joyous service where individuals and families affected with special needs are specifically recognized and honored. The celebration coincides with a special Shabbat known as Shabbat Shekalim, when we read the Torah portion that describes a census of the Jews after the Exodus whereby every individual - no matter how rich or how poor- was to be counted by contributing an equal share (i.e., ½ a shekel) to unify Israel and strengthen the Jewish People as a whole. Beth Am s Disability Awareness and Inclusion Shabbat will also involve a census or sorts, where the rich, varied and equally valued abilities of ALL of congregants and community members are celebrated. In keeping with the important message of Shabbat Shekalim, we ask that you contribute to the unity and strength of our beautifully diverse Jewish community by contributing a ½ shekel and attending this special evening. Come and be counted! If you or a guest requires specific accommodations, please call the office at 215-886-8000.
