Welcome! We are so glad you are here. March 4, 2018-10:00 a.m. But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling like dew upon a thought, produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think. Lord Byron, Poet It ain t those parts of the Bible that I can t understand that bother me; it s the parts that I do understand. Mark Twain We revere the Bible, but we don t read it. George Gallup, Pollster If you are religious, it is easier to read some pious book than the Bible. The Bible treats you like human life roughly. Oswald Chambers The Power of Faith 5 Receiving the Life Psalm 119:97-105

A WORD FROM KENNEDY STREAMLINING SUNDAYS! No time has more importance in our family of faith than when we gather and grow together as a community each Sunday morning to worship. For over four years, we have not taken a close look at how we use this time. At our meeting of your Elders this past Monday, we began to look at some ways to use this time more effectively. Out of that conversation, we have already made some changes to our worship time. We are reducing the number of announcements made at the News of the Community portion of the service. Each week, the lay reader will highlight only two announcements, and prior to the sermon - I will highlight one. All others will be shared in the bulletin, and - during Robert s closing worship music on-screen as worship ends. We have also removed the song we sing after the prayer: Spirit of the Living God. Over the coming weeks, Session has asked me, in conjunction with our Director of Music, Dr. Robert Remek, and Family Ministries Director, James Potts, to look at everything we do in worship to see how we can do it better. Please share with us your suggestions as we look at how to make our gathering together more powerful and meaningful for us all. Finally, we will make the last Sunday of each month, Invitation Sunday. On that day, we will invite anyone wishing to become a member of this church family to meet after worship with a team of Elders. That way, folks don t have to wait for a Newcomers Seminar to become official. Then the next month on that last Sunday, we will welcome these folks through Renewal of Baptism or Baptism into our family of faith - even as we invite others to join that day. THIS FRIDAY, IT S MOVIE NIGHT WITH THE STAR! just released on DVD As part of our Faith and Family month, it s Christmas in March with the fun and exuberant cartoon take on the Christmas story, starring Kelly Clarkson, Anthony Anderson, and Oprah Winfrey. Come at 6 pm to enjoy pizza on the patio, and then grab a bag of popcorn, and enjoy this family flick! See the sign-up sheet in this bulletin Then the next Sunday, March 18 th, we cap the Faith and Family Month with our amazing Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic. Come out for worship at 10 AM and then head over to the Patch for the hunt and an awesome picnic lunch along with lots of raffles and fun activities! Tickets are on sale TODAY and next Sunday, with all proceeds to benefit our Learning Center ministries. Call Rebecca at 954-922-8558 for information. continued.....

SPEAKING OF MOVIES. This Wednesday, March 7th, our annual Lenten film series, with the theme, Searching for Shalom, continues. Each film creatively deals with how human beings struggle for a world that is full of peace between one another, and between creation itself, a sadly appropriate theme after the awful violence in Parkland. This week the film is: The 2002 thriller, Changing Lanes, with Ben Affleck and Samuel Jackson a film that critic Roger Ebert called one of the best movies of the year. Each film starts at 7 PM with a brief discussion afterwards, and there will be popcorn and chips available for all attendees. Come out and enjoy!
