Church Life If you are visiting with us for the first time, WELCOME! We are glad it was your choice to worship Christ with us today. We hope this time of praise and the study of God s Word will be an encouragement for you. Please join us for refreshments on the patio at the Royal Palm campus or in the foyer at the Acreage campus. We look forward to meeting you! I love this church for the wonderful preaching of God s Word and the fellowship of believers. From worship team to connection groups to the preschool hall to Area 51 for the youth, there is a place for everyone to be a part of the body of believers. I serve Jesus with you by playing drums with the worship team. Over the years, I ve also led a connection group, served on the personnel and stewardship committees, and worked at the preschool desk. My wife, Sue, serves as the Business Manager here at CC and I am the Director of Development at The King s Academy. We ve been attending for 15 years! Free event for individuals and families of all ages living with any disability. February 18, 2017 10 AM to 2 PM Volunteer check-in 8:30 AM John Prince Park 4759 S. Make plans now to attend this conference which will both inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, Church or simply Life concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth for God. What will the next generation look like? That all depends upon how much we will invest in their future. The act of giving is a vivid reminder that it s all about God, not about us. It s saying I am not the point, He is the point. He does not exist for me. I exist for Him. God s money has a higher purpose than my affluence. Giving is a joyful surrender to a greater person and a greater agenda. Giving affirms Christ s leadership. It dethrones me and exalts Him. It breaks the chains of mammon that would enslave me. As long as I still have something, I believe I own it. But when I give it away, I relinquish control, power, and prestige. At the moment of release the light turns on. The magic spell is broken. My mind clears. I recognize God as owner, myself as servant, and others as intended beneficiaries of what God has entrusted to me. Giving doesn t strip me of vested interests, rather, it shifts my vested interests from earth to heaven from self to God. From The Treasure Principle Senior Adults, Make plans now to join us for Fellowship Night in the Activity Center on the Royal Palm campus, February 17th at 6:30 PM as we enjoy a time of laughter, games, and a great meal together. Bring your favorite side dish to share. This is a wonderful time to make new friends and enjoy conversation with old friends. Save the date! It s going to be fun! Are we prepared to let the one who loves us more than anything else in the world lavish His love on us? Are we ready to know of HIS love this Valentine s Day? Discover how much Jesus Loves You! Precious one, you might not know me, but I know you like none other. Psalm 139:2 I am your most beloved companion. Psalm 119:63 It is my desire to overwhelm you in my love. 1 John 3:1 I chose you when I planned creation. Ephesians 1:11-12 Nothing you have ever done can separate you from my love. Romans 8:38-39 You are not a mistake. Psalm 139:15-16 I am healing all wounds and brokenness of heart. Psalm 147:3 I will never stop doing good for you. Jeremiah 32:40 I will never, no never, leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 You are my treasured possession. No one loves you like me. Exodus 19:5

God s Word - Time With God Today s SOAP from Pastor Duval Madrigal Scripture: Judges 16:4-6, 13-20 Observation: Samson was a Nazarite. As a Nazarene he has vows to God. Samson began to violate his vows that he had made. When we get to this Scripture, we notice that Samson has violated many vows except for cutting his hair, which he is prohibited from doing so. But soon that will occur as well. Samson falls in love with a woman named Delilah, The Philistine leaders went to her and said, Persuade him to tell you where his great strength comes from, so we can overpower him, tie him up, and make him helpless. Each of us will then give you 1,100 pieces of silver. Samson s self-centered life caused him to place himself in this compromising situation. God was able to use Samson to deliver His people from Philistine oppression, but as Samson continued his disobedience to our Creator, God was not going to allow Samson to continue this behavior. Application: As believers, we entered into God s covenant by choice. We have made vows to God to follow Him, His teachings and His way of life for us. But we also have a willingness to compromise the covenant to fulfill our own fleshly desires. This is one of our greatness weaknesses. Satan is on the offensive after us with his deceitful lies and his cunning persistent tongue of temptation, just like Delilah who went after Samson. Samson thought his strength came from his long hair. The truth was that his strength came from the presence of the Lord. There is nothing in this world that is going to give us strength to deal with life (not ourselves and not other people), only God Himself. Prayer: Father, thank you for rescuing me. Thank you for calling on me to be your son. Thank you for revealing yourself to me. Just like we learned in the story of Gideon last week. LORD, YOU ARE THE SOURCE OF OUR STRENGTH. Lord you have a purpose for our lives. Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven, no matter what we do. What I want to do is walk with You and never go back from the vow I made to you years ago. Moses told the leaders of the Israelite tribes, This is what the Lord has commanded: When a man makes a vow to the Lord or swears an oath to put himself under an obligation, he must not break his word; he must do whatever he has promised. Lord, I am obligated by my vow to You! In Jesus name I pray this, AMEN. Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God to speak to you. Write down a verse which spoke to you. Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the text. What do you believe is the point of the passage? Application - Write down how the Scripture passage applies to your life today. Prayer - Ask God to help you use this Scripture for greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out. S.O.A.P. Scripture Observation Application Prayer Grab your Bible, a pen, and a notebook. Get ready to hear from God through His Word! This Week s SOAP Faith Through Trials M Ruth 1:1-5 T Ruth 1:6-7 W Ruth 1:8-10 TH Ruth 1:11-15 F Ruth 1:16-17 S Ruth 1:18 Main Passage for February 19 Ruth 1:6-18 HCSB Memory Verse: Ruth 1:16 But Ruth replied: Do not persuade me to leave you or go back and not follow you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.

Compromised Potential Scripture 4 Some time later, he fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in the Sorek Valley. 5 The Philistine leaders went to her and said, Persuade him to tell you where his great strength comes from, so we can overpower him, tie him up, and make him helpless. Each of us will then give you 1,100 pieces of silver. 6 So Delilah said to Samson, Please tell me, where does your great strength come from? How could someone tie you up and make you helpless? 13 Then Delilah said to Samson, You have mocked me all along and told me lies! Tell me how you can be tied up. He told her, If you weave the seven braids on my head with the web of a loom 14 She fastened the braids with a pin and called to him, Samson, the Philistines are here! He awoke from his sleep and pulled out the pin, with the loom and the web. 15 How can you say, I love you, she told him, when your heart is not with me? This is the third time you have mocked me and not told me what makes your strength so great! 16 Because she nagged him day after day and pleaded with him until she wore him out, 17 he told her the whole truth and said to her, My hair has never been cut, because I am a Nazirite to God from birth. If I am shaved, my strength will leave me, and I will become weak and be like any other man. 18 When Delilah realized that he had told her the whole truth, she sent this message to the Philistine leaders: Come one more time, for he has told me the whole truth. The Philistine leaders came to her and brought the money with them. 19 Then she let him fall asleep on her lap and called a man to shave off the seven braids on his head. In this way, she made him helpless, and his strength left him. 20 Then she cried, Samson, the Philistines are here! When he awoke from his sleep, he said, I will escape as I did before and shake myself free. But he did not know that the Lord had left him. Judges 16:4-6, 13-20 Main Point God keeps both His promise and His warnings. *Notes adapted from Explore the Bible, LifeWay Christian Resources. God s Word - Devoted to Him The Two Bears Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. Proverbs 13:10 Some years ago, my wife, Carolyn, and I spent a few days camping on the flanks of Mount Rainier in Washington State. When we were returning to our campsite one evening, we saw in the middle of a meadow two male bears boxing each other s ears. We stopped to watch. There was a hiker nearby, and I asked him what the conflict was about. A young female, he said. Where is she? I asked. Oh, she left about 20 minutes ago, he chuckled. Thus, I gathered, the conflict at this point was not about the female bear but about being the toughest bear. Most fights aren t about policy and principle, or about right and wrong; they re almost always about pride. The wise man of Proverbs swings his axe at the root of the problem when he writes: Pride leads to conflict (13:10). Quarrels are fueled by pride, by needing to be right, by wanting our way, or by defending our turf or our egos. On the other side, wisdom resides with the well-advised those who listen and learn, those who allow themselves to be instructed. There is wisdom in those who humble themselves those who set aside their own selfish ambition; who acknowledge the limits of their own understanding; who listen to the other person s point of view; who allow their own ideas to be corrected. This is the wisdom from God that spreads peace wherever it goes. From Our Daily Bread Genesis 1:31 Psalm 19:1 Romans 3:23 Romans 6:23A Romans 1:25 Proverbs 14:12 You can always tell when a man is a great way from God he is always talking about himself, Philippians 2:13 Ephesians 2:10 John 3:16A Colossians 2:14 Mark 1:15B Ephesians 2:8-9 Romans 10:9 and how good he is. Kids Ministry Today s Sunday School Lesson Today, the children learned about Samson. They learned sin separates us from God and His good plan for our lives. Their memory verse today was Judges 17:6. The verse for next week is Ruth 1:16 But Ruth replied: Do not persuade me to leave you or go back and not follow you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Practice this verse with your child throughout the week so that they can earn a Disciple Dollar next Sunday for memorizing the verse. Their connection passage today was Judges Chapters 13-16. They learned that Samson s selfish, sinful choices had serious consequences. Review questions from today s lesson: How did Samson sin and disobey God? What were the consequences of Samson s sin? What did Samson pray before God gave him strength to push down the pillars of the temple? How did God use Samson in his plan to help rescue Israel? The next derby work night will focus on painting, wheels and axles. It will be held Saturday February 18th from 2 to 4 PM. If you are interested in assistance to cut your car, please contact Wendi. Stay connected with all that is happening in AWANA by joining the Connect Church AWANA Facebook group. The Disciple Dollar Store will be open EVERY week. Type in this link www.pinterest.com/connect_church on your computer to have access to the Connect Church Pinterest with all the weekly worship folder activities. Samson s sinful choices caused him to lose his strength which God had given him. To the bottom left is a healthy snack that your child can eat to help remind them of Samson s strength. Use grapes, cheese, and pretzels to create these yummy barbell bites. To the bottom right is an activity that you can do with your child to act out the Bible story. Have your child make a hat with Samson s hair out of construction paper and make the pillar walls out of boxes. Preschool Ministry God loves me when I m sleeping. Today s Sunday School Lesson Today in class the children learned what the Bible says about how Jesus loves the children (Luke 18:15-17, Mark 10:13-16, Matthew 19:13-15) This week s verse is Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14. Please, help your child memorize the verse and review the lesson by asking these questions: Who brought the children to Jesus? Who tried to send them away? How do you know that Jesus loves children? Since Jesus loves all children, does that mean He loves you too? What are some ways that we can show our love to Jesus? The children will earn stickers and stamps this week for knowing the verse and the story. Connecting Church and Home You Will Need: construction paper crayons photo Directions Bear Hug 17:Give us today our daily bread. Matthew 6:11 Here is a fun activity you can do at home called Picture Card. Create a card together. Print Jesus Loves Children on the outside of the card. On the inside, have your child draw a picture or paste a photo of himself/herself with a friend or sibling. Next have your child give the card to the person whose picture is inside, and tell that person Jesus loves him or her.
