Our neighbors held us accountable to be kind and respectful to adults and other kids. We spent countless hours playing in the each other s sandboxes and riding our bikes everywhere, even the local store several blocks away! Fathers played ball with kids in the summer and mothers served Kool-Aid. Like my mother, their main job was their children. But life has changed and so much. Most of the lifestyle I remember is gone forever. Those memories will never be experienced by children of this generation. There are custody battles, technology that steals our time, neighbors we don t know, mothers who must work, drug abuse, pedophiles, gangs and bullying that has become so common in our schools. People and families are struggling. Unsupervised adolescents are succumbing to negative behaviors; spending hours on the Internet, gaming, online gambling, drinking, pre-marital sex, or dabbling in the occult. Parents need a plan of action. So, when their children are away from their family, they will make good decisions and avoid risky behaviors. According to researchers, fathers who participate in church life make a great impact on their children s future spiritual interests. What can parents do to improve their children s ability to fight temptations and prepare them to make Godly decisions? A healthy child preparation ideas list is on page 5. 1

2 From the President... We at Strong Tower Radio hold to the following Ellen White statement We have nothing to fear for the future except we forget how the Lord has led us in the past. Life Sketches, pg. 196. Through our feeble efforts, the Lord continues to wonderfully bless this ministry as we proclaim the truth of God s character and the Third Angel s message of Revelation 14 to half the state of Michigan, and parts of Wisconsin, Ontario and Illinois. From our beginning, we committed to only move forward as the Lord would provide. We would only carry programming that was founded on Scriptural truths. We have made a few course corrections over the years, but through it all we are committed to keeping our eyes on Christ our Savior. We re blessed to have so many faithful supporters. I am pleased to tell you that five of YOUR seven full-power stations have balances that are in the black; that is a first in Strong Tower Radio s history! Those funds pay rent, utilities, engineering and repairs to keep each station on the air. The Lord has stretched funds to cover costs, but those costs have increased as we ve added more stations. When stations can support themselves, we are able to invest in infrastructure in network master control to better serve the different communities we cover. All the equipment for our newest translator, 92.3 FM in Charlotte, MI, has been purchased. The weather has not allowed us to build this station yet. But it should be built and ready to go on the air in the coming weeks. We continue to pray the Lord will open new stations to share the Good News of the Third Angel s message with more people soon. We are also working with many pastors to develop new programming. With the Lord s blessings and your support, Strong Tower Radio is going and growing! Thank you for your love, prayers, financial support and all that you do to keep Strong Tower Radio on the air; we appreciate it. David Bolduc

STR Changed Lives Disgusted with churches in general, Rick Price, a Native American, considered visiting one more but didn t have the nerve to walk in. After moving to Grayling in 2015, Rick discovered Strong Tower Radio on 93.9 FM, Mio. The programs strengthened his faith as he discovered new truths from the Bible. One sermon caught Rick s attention. The preacher described a derelict that came to church and cleaned up his act by the power of God. And that man is here today, and he s one of our church leaders! the minister exclaimed. Convicted by these words, Rick mused, If they could accept that man in their church, they probably would accept me too! With new courage, Rick and his son, John, visited the Grayling Seventhday Adventist Church for the first time, signed up for BibleStudyOffer.com and found a warm church family. On November 24, 2018, Rick claimed the power of God, breaking the chains of nicotine and caffeine. Along with the angels, we rejoiced over his January 12 baptism in Gaylord. Now Rick will be helping Pastor Ames give Bible studies to another Native American! Diane Kobor STR Pastor s Perspective It is nice to know that my church members can listen to Strong Tower Radio (STR) every day. It is spiritually important for church members to come to church on Sabbath, and it s a spiritual blessing to have prayer meetings every week. However, we all need to read and study our Bibles along with praying everyday. STR makes it easy for my members to be spiritually fed throughout the day while they are engaged in daily activities. The blessing of STR is felt by everyone who tunes in. I love hearing that a church member has been listening to Strong Tower Radio because I know they have been spiritually growing during the week. Staff Feature Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Ps. 37:4 (...even if you forgot that it was your desire.) JB is host of Joy in the Morning & Restful Reflections. He was born and raised four miles south of Cadillac, MI. He fell in love with Jesus as a child and desired to serve Him. His mother died when he was nine years old, and it was about this time that he began listening to a local station s morning program, Mike Paulin, Callin. JB says I remember thinking that would be a great job while standing in front of the mirror, practicing with great flare and exaggerated tones the introduction to the next song that was played. He never thought much more about it until a year ago. Recalling this memory, he said Praise the Lord, even though I had forgotten; God did fulfill an old desire of my heart. In third grade, a new student named George Corliss joined his class and they graduated together from Pine River High School. In 1982 JB married Ida May and their home was blessed with three children. He provided for his family as a roofing and building contractor for 30 years and received a business degree in 2008. Ida May was tragically killed in a vehicle accident May 2010. In March 2011 George requested that JB start hosting Restful Reflections. Later George requested of JB that he host a mid-morning music program which became Joy in the Morning. In May 2013 he married Denise, aka Martha, the voice you hear at the beginning of the program, who presents an occasional poem or story. They live in Tennessee where she teaches at a parochial school in McMinnville. They are looking forward to the glorious coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus and pray you are too!! Sandy Cole s Update Sandy, a much-appreciated full-time volunteer, fell while opening the broadcast center, shattering her right shoulder socket. The doctors predict a long recovery. We hope they are wrong. Please continue to pray for quick healing. New Station ID at Top of the Hour Once the Charlotte station is on the air, we must update our hourly station identification (ID). We have recorded pastors from our broadcast areas for this ID. 4

Healthy Child Preparation Ideas 1. Encourage your child to pray and have a devotional life. Keep special devotional books for children and assist them in memorizing verses. 2. Make available Bible Story books and nature magazines plus read stories of people such as pioneers, presidents, inventors, those who went through difficulty but put their trust in God. Tell your own stories of trusting God, your conversion and how God saw you through difficult experiences. 3. Make Christian songs available. Choose songs that encourage the fruits of the spirit and sing along with your child when they learn the songs and share them with you in the car or around the house. 4. Share with your children how to solve problems, deal with difficult people and have compassion for others. Teach children the principles of Matthew 18 for working out disagreements by talking to people directly. Make sure you, the parent, are role-modeling the fruits of the spirit when dealing with relationships in your own sphere of influence. Remember little eyes and ears are watching and listening how you do! 5. Help your child to do service for others in the neighborhood, at church, at nursing homes, etc. Give toys to shelters, do tasks for neighbors, write notes to shut-ins or visit the sick. 6. Have your child join a youth service club. These programs are designed to develop character and teach children about their responsibility to help others and respect nature. 7. Catch your child doing good. When your child is being thoughtful, a good sportsman after losing a game or sharing something with a playmate, make sure you comment how pleased you are with their behavior. 8. Point your child to God when they are discouraged or unhappy. Let them know that God understands and that He is already working out problems for them in His own way and time. 9. Teach your child gratefulness and to say please and thank you. Insist that they thank people in social settings. Adults and children benefit physically and emotionally when they take the time to cultivate a joyful outlook. Teach joyfulness despite our circumstances and remind them we are to give thanks to the Lord. It is worth our time to encourage our children in the Lord. Please read Deut. 6:1-8. 5
