*Prayer of Confession Merciful God, we confess that we have not followed your way. You call us to seek justice, yet we abuse and ignore the poor. You call us to show mercy, yet we turn away from those in need. Forgive us, God of grace. Give us the wisdom and courage to abandon our places of privilege and to show our faith in action; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Please continue in silent prayer *Kyrie #574 Lord Have Mercy Upon Us Johnson *Declaration of Forgiveness *The Response #579 Gloria Patri Greatorex *The Peace The Peace of Christ be with you. And also with you. ~The Word~ The 5:2 (based on Ephesians 5:2 Walk in the way of love. ) Prayer for Illumination Holy God, whose Spirit comes to us in moments of both strength and weakness, come now into our midst that we might be able to hear your Word in fullness and in truth, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Psalm 125 Dr. Angela Batey, cantor Hopson Those who put their trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, unshaken, enduring for ever. As the mountains enfold Jerusalem, so the Lord enfolds the faithful, now and evermore. (R) Those whose ways are corrupt shall never rule over the land of the righteous as long as the righteous uphold the truth. Lord, show your goodness to all your people and to those who are true of heart. Shun those whose ways are unjust; give peace to Israel. (R) Second Scripture Reading Mark 7:31-37 The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon A School Bus Tale Rev. Matthew Nieman ~The Response~ *Affirmation of Faith (from the Confession of 1967) We believe that the new life finds its direction in the life of Jesus, his deeds and words, his struggles against temptation, his compassion, his anger, and his willingness to suffer death. The teaching of the apostles and prophets guides us in living this life and the Christian community nurtures and equips us for our ministries.

Each month, one Bible story is featured, with a different weekly rotation of the story, using music, art, games, drama, cooking, video, or serving, etc. to experience the story more deeply. Students will be using Sparkhouse s Echo series, a Bible overview for youth using storytelling, creative reflection, and dialogue. Through this story-based approach, students find meaning and identity in the biblical narrative. We use The Present Word. This fall we will study the book of Genesis and will learn of God s way in the world. Each lesson stands alone, so join us any week to participate as you d like. This class is studying the historical and philosophical similarities and differences of science and theology in a 12-lecture Great Courses series on Science and Religion by Professor Lawrence Principe. This class is starting a six-week video study of Adam Hamilton s The Call, an examination of the life and message of the Apostle Paul. This beginner chair yoga class modifies traditional yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a chair, or standing while using a chair for balance. This class will begin with prayer and end with spiritual meditation. A Reminder that Moving Meditation Chair Yoga Class is back in session! Join Jenny Trussell in the fellowship hall from 10:00 to 10:30 on Sunday mornings for simple yoga poses, spiritual meditation and prayer.
