THANK YOU FROM THE 2016 REACH TEAM FUPY and Friends, Thank you so much for sending UPY to Prairie Grove with REACH Workcamps. We had an amazing week! Not only did we grow closer as a youth group, but we participated in God's work in a significant way. Working in Prairie Grove fostered a desire in our hearts to continue to share God's love with our community. Click the button below to watch a video about our week at REACH. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! from the FUPC youth, Rob Button, and Brianne and Jacob Christiansen. (If you happen to be missing tools from the REACH trip, they can be picked up in the Left and Found Closed off of Fellowship Hall.) Click to Watch Video Upcoming in Worship This summer we are worshipping around the theme, Stories of the Kingdom, learning specific stories that comprise a small part of God s larger story. We ve been exploring stories of the original establishment of Israel as a kingdom, as God led the people from being a nomadic desert tribe to an established ancient nation-state, and all the adventure it took to get there. These are exciting stories about the godly woman Hannah, the prophet Samuel, King Saul, and King David. They are stories like ours: of births, deaths, God s call, conflict, family joys and problems, depression, wars, fears, and hopes. These foundational lessons that God s people learned as they settled down in the promised land and sought stability and security as a people have many applications for us today. Our summer worship services will continue to be led by children, youth, and adults from the congregation, in addition to our pastors and staff. You won t want to miss any of them. July 10 "Saul and David" 1 Samuel 18-22 July 17 "David and Abigail" 1 Samuel 25 July 24 "David Honors the Troubled King" 1 Samuel 23-26 July 31 "David Becomes King" 2 Samuel 1-10 This Sunday's Scripture (click here) Christian Education for All Ages - Each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Children: On Sunday mornings we offer the nursery, preschool classes, one class for elementary children, and one class for youth. Preschool children go to the nursery, Elementary children gather in Upper Knox for Growing in Grace and Gratitude. Youth: (completed 6th 12th) gather in Lower Witherspoon each week to learn about a different ministry the church supports and do a service project that supports each ministry. Adults: The combined class, "A Bird's-Eye View of the Bible," facilitated by Rev. Phil Butin, focuses on a different theme each week that will allow you to get a deeper sense of how the broad story of the Bible fits together. This week's theme is, Living as God s 2

ENJOY HONDURAN COFFEE AT CHURCH THIS SUMMER Enjoy another cup of coffee! During this summer, (until our supply runs out), we will be enjoying true Honduran coffee, thanks to the hard work and generosity of our Presbyterian brothers and sisters in Honduras. Recently, while Phil and Leslie were in Honduras they were given packages of coffee hand-ground from beans grown on the 3

mountainsides of the villages of El Horno and El Sute, and harvested, dried, and roasted by the church goers so that they could thank us for the solar panels that our Presbytery installed. Let us be thankful for God's blessings! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO SERVE AS SOUND BOARD OPERATORS Anyone interested in learning more about the soundboard and its operation during worship should contact Michael Shuman (mshuman@fupcfay.org). Training includes basic operations and one-on-one training during a service. FALL MISSION TRIP TO HONDURAS Our Presbytery s next work-trip to Honduras is scheduled for Sunday, October 23, through Saturday, October 29. We will be working alongside our Honduran brothers and sisters building homes near Copan. For this trip we will spend one night at the home in Trinidad de Copan where our groups have stayed for most of their visits in the past, and visit with representatives of the Presbyterian Church of Honduras and the Mayor of the region of Trinidad. Then we will travel to Copan for the work part of our trip, staying in a hotel. Our last day will be spent visiting the Mayan ruins and playing the role of tourist. There will be no overnight stay in San Pedro Sula. We will be escorted in a van for all of our travels and will only be staying in safe communities. We will fly out of Little Rock on Sunday morning at 6:30 am and return to Little Rock on Saturday at 8:32 pm. The cost of the trip is anticipated to be around $1,500 for those 18 and older and $1,400 for those under 18. We will need to know how many are going by July 15, 2016. Please contact Leslie Belden (479.466.1061 or lesliebeld@aol.com) or Lindy Vogado (501.227.0000 or lindyvogado@secondpreslr.org) if you need more information or are interested. A booklet with more information is available. APP FOR DAILY BIBLE READING A recent sermon encouraged us to prayerfully study scripture each day. The PC(USA) offers an App for iphone and Android with daily Bible readings called Daily Prayer PC(USA). We encourage you to download this from the App store, Google Play, or to follow the Daily Devotions link from our website: www.fupcfay.org.
