Greeter D. A. Martin Ushers Sandi Goeldner Ben Bryson Ron Shafer Bunnie Lynn Introit WE GATHER TO PRAISE Let us now prepare our hearts and minds to worship God. I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say (The Rowan Tree) Chancel Choir Dedicated in honor of our former organist Greg Hollis. Scottish Traditional/ Setting by Greg Hollis Acolyte Clay Sproule Gathering Words One: The Lord be with you. ALL: And also with you. Welcome & Announcements Rev. Bob Brearley Welcome to worship at St. Simons Presbyterian Church. During the announcements please take a moment to sign and pass the friendship register located at the end of the pew. As you enter the sanctuary, please silence your cell phones. All children are welcome in worship. If you prefer, a nursery (located in the children s hall at the rear of the church) is available for children from birth to five years. Worship resources for children are available at the sanctuary entrances. Prelude Feed My Lambs Seraphim Choir (K-2nd graders) Sleeth God brings all things into being by the Word. God offers the Word of grace, and people respond to that divine initiative through the language of worship. They call God by name, invoke God s presence, beseech God in prayer, and stand before God in silence and contemplations. -PCUSA Directory For Worship *Call to Worship One: God calls us away from the tumult of the world, that we may focus our thoughts on things that are lasting. ALL: In God s presence we see our lives more clearly; the broken pieces are put back together. One: God calls us out of loneliness into a life of community. D. A. Martin ALL: Worshipping together, caring about one another, we find out what it means to be truly human. One: But God will send us back into the world s confusion, its brokenness and isolation. ALL: We will go with serenity and joy, strengthened to be God s servants, the bearers of peace. One: We have come into this sanctuary to worship God and to trust that God s grace is sufficient for the living of this day. * Please stand if able. *Opening Hymn 816 wer nur den lieben gott If Thou but Trust in God to Guide Thee

*Prayer of Confession (All) In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. *Assurance of Pardon Silence for Personal Confession Rev. Alan Dyer Wise and powerful God, you have given us your light and truth to guide us through confusion, yet we have relied instead on our human wisdom and have lost our way. You offer to share our burdens and give us your strength, yet we trust in our own efforts and find ourselves exhausted. Bring us back into your presence, O God; overcome our separation from one another and from you. By your Word and Spirit, fill us with the gifts that equip us to meet life s demands, that we may be your people in the world and live in confidence and joy. We offer you our brokenness and our sins. In our prayers we praise our God as the Creator of all that is, and we offer thanksgivings for the blessings of life that sustain us in the journey. And sometimes we confess that we have disappointed God and ourselves by living the selfish life. Confession is difficult, but it is good for the soul. It is an act of honesty that deepens our awareness of our brokenness, and it creates space for God to renew us and transform us. *Gloria Patri h.w. greatorex Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

After we receive our offerings, we take a moment to dedicate them to God s work in our community and in the world. This ritual of setting apart concludes the offering by reminding us that we give not just to an organization but to a faith community called to make God s love visible. *Prayer of Dedication WE PROCLAIM GOD S WORD Word for Children All children please come forward at the pastor s invitation. *Affirmation of Faith (All) Jesus Christ stands at the center of the biblical record. The Bible is the account of God s word and action in history, together with his people s response in faith. It tells how the Lord has moved with Israel and the church towards the kingdom of God, his just and loving rule over all. It is the story of the one God, who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. That story is still unfolding and in faith we make it our own. It forms our memory and our hope. It tells us who we are and what we are to do. To retell it is to declare what we believe. WE GO FORTH TO SERVE A Declaration of Faith *Hymn of Dedication 366 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling hyfrydol *Benediction Go out into the world in peace...rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit. Choral Response (568) Amen amen (haugen) Postlude Trumpet Flourish Amy Bishop, Organist arr. Nelson If You Are New Here. Whether you are visiting from out-of-town, a seasonal resident, or searching for a church home, we are delighted that you are worshiping with us today. If you are interested in receiving more information about membership or the ministries of our congregation, please indicate that on the Friendship Register as it is passed down your pew at the beginning of worship so that we can be in touch with you soon. Child Care. Children of all ages are welcome in worship. If you prefer, a nursery is available for children, birth through age five. The nursery is located in the Children s Wing at the rear of the church. If You Are in Need of Prayer. Easter Flowers: If you would like to purchase Easter flowers, please fill out the envelope found in your pew and place in the offertory plate. This year, our Easter flowers will be hydrangeas and the price for each is $20. Lenten Banners: Our cut-work images represent mind, body, heart, and soul. In the mind quadrant, a gear pattern fills the space. It represents the continual processing of our thoughts. A pattern of various breads completes the body quadrant. The bread motif speaks to our Communion ritual wherein the body of Christ is illustrated by bread. Our continual reflective journey is represented by diverse animal tracks inside the heart in the lower part of the banners. Lastly, the soul permeates all other quadrants by appearing in the corners, just as God s light within us glows in all aspects of our lives. artist Hannah Garrity WOW Supper Menu (March 21) // RSVP Online! Chicken tetrazzini, salad, rolls, dessert KidZ-Friendly Menu: Chicken nuggets, mac-n-cheese, oranges

To Ponder Prayerfully Have Mercy On Us O God of the bruised, we pray for healing. Comfort those who cry in dark corners: the lonely, the strangers, the weary, the fearful, the disappointed, the anxious, the depressed, the forsaken, the dispirited, the grieving, and those who lie in sickness and in pain. O God who wept over Jerusalem, open our eyes to those around us who scream in silence the depth of their despair. O God of compassion, heal our hard hearts to tenderness.
