We gather in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Confession and Forgiveness Let us come into the light of Christ, confessing our need for God s mercy. Silence is kept for reflection. Almighty God, We confess that we are often not at peace with others or with ourselves. We bring to you all that pulls us apart: discord in our families, violence in our world, and our own conflicted hearts. In your mercy, Lord, heal us. Reconnect us to one another and to you. Let peace reign over all the earth, through the Prince of Peace, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen In Christ the Word who has come to dwell with us, God has given us grace upon grace, forgiveness that is stronger than our sins, and love that can heal every broken heart. Hear this Word of God s pardon and peace: In the name of Jesus our Savior, you are free from all your sins. Rise, shine, for your light has come. Thanks be to God. 3

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day Gracious God, you speak life into our very hearts. Revive us with your Spirit, deepen our vision and center our lives on you. In your grace teach us to love the people you love, to serve the people you serve, and to work for the kingdom of God. Amen Anthem 9:00 I Will Give Thanks Michael Jothen Celebration Singers 10:30 O Love That Will Not Let Me Go Molly Ijames New Dimension Singers Lesson Genesis 6:11-13 Now the earth was corrupt in God s sight, and the earth was filled with violence. And God saw that the earth was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon the earth. And God said to Noah, I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence because of them; now I am going to destroy them along with the earth. *** We welcome children to Dock Children s Education at this time.*** Ensure your child is wearing a nametag with name and grade level. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky. The Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him, and will make a path for his steps. William Dawson St. Andrew s Choir 5

Sacrament of Holy Baptism 10:30 Joshua William Swanson child of Brenna and James Swanson Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen 7

Holy Gospel Luke 4:31-37 All (sung): Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbath. They were astounded at his teaching, because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, Let us alone! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God. But Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him! When the demon had thrown him down before them, he came out of him without having done him any harm. They were all amazed and kept saying to one another, What kind of utterance is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and out they come! And a report about him began to reach every place in the region. The Gospel of the Lord. All (sung): Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon The Power of Love Pastor Michael D. Carlson Offering Adagio from Sonata I Felix Mendelssohn Offertory Thy Strong Word ebenezer Prayers of the Church Words of Institution for the Sacrament of Holy Communion 8

The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine and grants us the gift of God s grace and forgiveness. All are welcome to receive this gift. White grape juice is available upon request. Gluten-free wafers are available at all stations at the front of the Sanctuary. 9

Communion Hymn Healer of Our Every Ill healer of our every ill Post-Communion Blessing The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in his grace. Amen Post-Communion Prayer Benediction Holy God, at this table you have fed us with your love and grace. Remind us that no matter what happens in our lives, we remain in your loving embrace. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Savior and Lord. Amen The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 10
