Exodus 20:3 Is it true that believers are not under the law? Our liberty in Christ is limited by God s eternal moral law which includes Exodus 20. What about Romans 6:14,15; I Corinthians 9:20; Galatians 5:18? Believers have been delivered from the law as a system, or from the law s sentence of death because of our sins. Because of Christ s work for us, we are no longer under the threatening condemnation or tyranny of death pronounced against us by the law. Read: Matthew 5:17-19; Romans 3:31; 7:12; 8:1; 13:8-10; II Corinthians 3:6-18; Colossians 2:13-15; I Timothy 1:18; Hebrews 8-10. The correct interpretation of not under the law, is not that the Christian has been freed from all moral authority. He has, however, been freed from the law in the manner in which God s people were under law in the Old Testament era. Law provides no enablement to resist the power of sin; it only condemns the sinner. But grace enables. The life-giving Spirit in fulfillment of the promise of the new covenant writes the same law inwardly. He thus provides the believer with love for God s law, which previously went contrary to his nature, and with power to keep it, which previously he had not possessed. SUNDAY MORNING 8:30 &10:30 A.M. Renae DeFrance - 943-8791 Idolatry Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Idolatry Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 13:8-10 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Colossians 2:13-15 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. I Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
THANK YOU to all who showed up to help make our Hands and Feet Ministry a Huge success! Yard work has never been so much fun! The widows were blessed by your generous gift of your time and energy. The over-all response from participants is that they were equally blessed in being a part of serving the widows. It was amazing for our children to work along side of us seeing us do as we are called to do for our widows. May 10, 2014 " Honour widows that are widows indeed."
