She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Marin County. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Oakwood University (2005) and her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Maryland (2011). *A GMO (genetically modified organism) is the result of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans.
