A Monthly Publication of Boiling Springs Baptist Church April 2019 Volume 4 Issue 4 Keith s Korner But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen. Luke 24:1-5 Even the grave could not stop God on the Move among us! The women who arrived at the tomb expected a continuation of the grief and sorrow that had begun on Friday; instead, they found Sunday s message of celebration and a Savior who could not be contained to one location. God was once again on the move. Wow! His physical movement and His movement among human hearts cannot be stopped even by death itself! What a beautiful thing that even the tomb cannot stop Jesus! Our Savior s movement to the cross and ultimately out of the tomb is the key to our hope as the people of God! Services are planned this month to remember the cross and the empty tomb. We will share in communion on Thursday evening, April 18, in our Maundy Thursday service and we will celebrate resurrection morning at our Easter Sunrise Service on April 21, at 7AM, in the Prayer Garden (pancake breakfast to follow). We will continue this celebration during our Sunday School hour at 9:45AM and in our morning worship service at 10:55AM. Invite others to join you for these and other worship services during the month of April. Looking forward to celebrating with you, Keith April Worship Schedule Apr 7 10:55am Adult Cantata No More Night Apr 14 10:55am God Moves...to the Cross Luke 23 (selected verses) Apr 18 7:00pm Maundy Thursday Communion Apr 21 7:00am Easter Sunrise Service Pancake breakfast following in FH 9:45am Sunday School 10:55am Morning Worship God Moves...Out of the Tomb Luke 24:1-12 Apr 28 10:55am Morning Worship Movement of God Continues John 20:19-31

Music Ministry News During the month of April, there will be several special presentations of music in worship. There will be handbell music during our worship services on April 14 th and April 28 th. The Sanctuary Choir will be presenting an Easter cantata during Sunday morning worship on April 7, 2019. No More Night by Russell Mauldin is a work that includes classic praise and worship songs. The Sanctuary Choir will be accompanied by several instrumentalists. This will be a very special service of worship and acknowledgement of our Lord s sacrifice, crucifixion, and resurrection. In God s Service with You, Candy Preschool and Children... Ella and Will are looking at a beautiful window in their church. A church is where people who love God come to sing and worship. They come to read the Bible and learn more about God. Even though God is always with you at your house, he wants you to come to His house too. The people who come to God s house are part of God s family. It is very special to come together at God s house. As we enter this season of spring let s renew our love for God and His desire for us to be in His church looking at the windows and sharing in the love that each of us have to give to one another. Spring is always a fun and busy time for children as we look toward Easter and then summer activities. In April, we will begin a new series of music, play, and story-time with babies and creepers. Wiggles, Giggles and God will be used during the Sunday School hour to introduce God and His wonderful world. This awesome group of little ones will have many activities going on to help them begin to hear about God. We invite all the babies and creepers to come be a part of this active and fun group of children. On April 13, 2019 all Pre-K and K children are invited to come to our annual Easter Extravaganza from 11:00 to 12:30. We will enjoy games, crafts, Bible activities and, of course, hunting eggs! This is always an exciting and fun time to watch the little ones scramble for eggs and fill their baskets. Everyone is invited to come and watch and enjoy this time with the children. Our little ones are growing in numbers and I hope that you enjoy seeing the four year olds joining in with the weekly Lesson on the Steps.. They are learning about being quiet and still (maybe), but most importantly, they are learning about church. As they continue to grow in their faith, being in church allows them to see you and share with you. Thank you for allowing them to become a part of worship. I was glad when they said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord. Psalm 122:1 Miss Ellen

A Message from Our Youth Minister... In my space this month I want to remind the church about the youth Boston Butt Fundraiser. The flier with all of the information regarding purchasing a Boston Butt can be found in this edition of the Current. This is a very important fundraiser for our youth group and helps out many of our students attending trips throughout the year. If you are willing to purchase a Boston Butt, please let us know, speak with one of the students in the youth group, or call the church office. If you are not interested in purchasing a Boston Butt but would like to make a donation during our fundraiser, that is always welcome! Before we mention some of the important dates regarding this fundraiser, we want to express a huge thank you to Miles Hamrick for cooking and organizing this fundraiser year after year. Miles is a new father and his willingness to cook for this fundraiser is a huge ministry for our youth group. Miles makes delicious food and if you choose to buy one this year it will be money well spent! All of this information can be found on the flier but I will highlight some of the most important information. The original fliers have a section at the bottom for your name, a students name (the student who will receive money from your purchase; not required), how many you would like to purchase, if you would like extra slaw or sauce ($3 each for extra), and then pick-up/delivery information. If you would like your Boston Butt delivered, please include the delivery address and a time between 9 AM-1 PM you would like it to be delivered. It is preferred that you pick up your order from the Fellowship Hall on Friday, April 19 between 9 AM-1 PM, but we are happy to deliver as well. The absolute last day to place your order is Sunday, April 14. The youth ministry greatly appreciates your willingness to participate in this fundraiser. If you have not seen a flier or been asked by one of the students, please feel free to contact someone so we can help you. Happy Easter and again, we thank you for your support! With love, Mary and Alan Newcomb $40 gets you a smoked Boston Butt, 32oz of slaw, and 16oz of sauce cooked by a team led by Miles Hamrick. You can purchase an extra container of slaw for $3 and/or an extra container of sauce for $3. All proceeds go to summer mission and camp experiences. *You may designate your purchase to a specific student when you pay* You can order from a BSBC student, the church office (704-434-6244), or Alan Newcomb (704-418-8925). All orders must be placed by Sunday, April 14. Pick-up and delivery will take place on Friday, April 19. Please let us know if you need delivery or pick-up and, if needed, please give us an approximate time between 9 AM-1 PM that your food can be delivered. Pick-up will be in the Fellowship Hall of Boiling Springs Baptist Church from 9 AM- 1 PM. Please pay for your Boston Butt at the time of pick-up or delivery!

Church News... Easter Lilies on Sale Now! If you would like to have an Easter Lily placed among others in the Sanctuary during this season, please call the church office or see your bulletins for order information. Lilies may be placed in honor of or in memory of loved ones. Cost is $10 each. Deadline for ordering is April 15. Sunday, May 5, 2019 Relay for Life Luminary Service BSBC 6:00pm If you would like to honor someone you know who has cancer, or someone who has passed away with cancer, please complete one of the forms located on the table outside of the church office. If you would like to speak at the service, as a survivor of cancer or a caregiver, please let Diane Rabon know ASAP. Update from the Stewardship Committee: In the February Church Conference, the Stewardship Committee recommended that Boiling Springs Baptist Church begin raising funds to replace 117 windows in our educational space at $500 each (total of $58,500). Approval of replacing the windows came first and then approval was also given to begin raising the needed funds for this project. Individuals can give money to purchase one or more windows in memory or in honor of loved ones. Classes may decide to purchase a window together or to purchase the number of windows in their room. All financial gifts will be accepted towards the purchase of new windows. You do not have to give $500. These gifts are over and above your tithe. The goal for receiving these funds is September 8, 2019 (the date of our 50 th Anniversary Celebration of worshipping in our current sanctuary). BSBC Starting Point If you are a new member or would like to learn more about various ministries at BSBC, you are invited to attend a short welcome overview at 9:45am on Sunday morning, April 28, 2019. The staff will meet you in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and a breakfast snack.
