THE BIBLE S TEACHING ON HEAVEN AND HELL FACTS ABOUT HEAVEN Duration is forever, eternity: Mt 25:46; Rev 22:11 FACTS ABOUT HELL Duration is forever, eternity: Mt 25:46; Rev 14:11; 20:10; Jude 13. No 2nd chance: Heb 9:27; Never to enter heaven: Lk 16:26 The physical universe did not exist prior to God creating it in Genesis 1:1. In fact, the Sun and Earth, have existed for a relatively short period of time. At the second coming of Christ the physical universe will be destroyed and will no longer exist. It was created in Genesis 1:1, and will be uncreated at the second coming (2 Peter 3:10). Yet to us, this temporary physical universe is all we know, and because it is all we can see, many have falsely concluded that life on earth is all there is! Heaven and hell, even God Himself are of the same mysterious realm. We enter this realm when we die and pass into the spirit world. Creation Gen 1:1 Eternity The physical universe exists Only during this brief time It is impossible for our five senses to detect heaven and hell. How then can God describe for us something that we cannot see, taste, touch, smell or hear? He employs the use of symbols. For example, God says that heaven is a garden and a city. Heaven is not actually a city and a garden. Rather heaven is merely like a city or a garden. There is nothing within our five senses that can actually explain what heaven and hell are like, so God uses a series of word pictures to convey the next best thing. WORD PICTURES OF HEAVEN WORD PICTURES OF HELL A beautiful city: Heb 11:16; 13:14; Rev 21 Eternal day: Rev 21:25 + 22:5 Uncreation 2 Pe 3:10 Eternity What will heaven and hell be like if it is not part of the physical universe? The garbage dump of City: Mk 9:43-48 (Hell=Gehenna=Valley of Hinnom=Dump) Eternal night, black darkness: Mt 22:13; 25:30; Jude 13; 2 Pet 2:17 Sabbath rest: Heb 3:12-4:11; Rev 14:13 The second death: Rev 2:11; 20:6,14 New heavens & earth: 2 Pet 3:3-13; Rev 21:1 A garden paradise: Rev 2:7; 22:2-3 Exiled & banished away from God's new kingdom: 2 Thes 1:9; Mt 22:13; Rev 22:15 Beaten & tortured while shackled in prison: Lk 12:47-48; Mt 22:13; 18:34; 24:51 Holy place in Jewish tabernacle: Heb 9:11,24 Eternal fire: Mt 25:41; 13:42; Jude 7 Conscious reward: Mt 5:11. Comfort from sufferings: Rom 8:18; 2 Cor 4:17-18 Conscious punishment: Lk 16:19-31; 2 Th 1:5-8; Mt 13:42,50; 25:30 Physical & emotional healing: Rev 7:16; 21:4 Destruction: 2 Th 1:9; Phil 3:19; Mt 10:28 Reward for obeying: 2 Pe 1:10-11 Punishment for bad conduct: Rom 2:5-11 Better than our wildest imagination: Eph 3:20 Worse than any known fear and horror HEAVEN & HELL: SPIRITUAL NOT PHYSICAL 1. Heaven is not of this creation : Hebrews 9:11,24 2. God s future kingdom is not of this world or realm : John 18:36 3. Physical universe will be destroyed: 2 Peter 3:10; Revelation 20:11 4. Things seen are temporary, but things not seen are eternal : 2 Cor 4:18 5. The first things have passed away : Revelation 21:4 6. Created things will be removed: Hebrews 12:25-27 6. Physical body cannot enter heaven: 1 Corinthians 6:13; 15:42-44, 50 7. No longer any sea, night, sun or moon: Revelation 21:1,23; 22:5 8. Heaven is in the very presence of the Father: John 13:36-14:6 9. We hope to enter within the veil where God dwells: Heb 6:19-20;10:19-20 HELL: A FIVE SENSE EXPERIENCE Touch: Pain from burning fire Taste: Dry mouth, extreme thirst, blood from teeth Smell: Rotting garbage; rotten eggs-brimstone Sight: Smoke-fire; Rotting Garbage or darkness Sound:Moaning, weeping, crying, screaming Jesus said, Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it (Matthew 7:13-14).

TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR HUSBANDS 1. Thou shalt not take thy wife for granted, but will honour and respect her as thy equal. (1 Pet 3:7) 2. Thy highest allegiance, except God, shall be to thy wife, not thy relatives. (Gen 2:24) 3. Thou shalt frequently tell thy wife how important & valuable she is to thee. (Phil 2:3; Prov 31:10-11) 4. Thou shalt hold thy wife s love by the same means that thou won it. (Sos 5:10-16) 5. Thou shalt actively establish family discipline with thy wife s help. (Eph 6:4) 6. Remember to do all the little things for thy wife when you say you will. (Mt 5:37) 7. Keep thine eyes on thy own wife, not thy neighbors. (Prov 5:15-20; Job 31:1; Jer 5:8) 8. Thou shalt make every effort to see things from thy wife s point of view. (Gen 21:12) 9. Thou shalt not fail to kiss thy wife every morning. (Sos 8:1) 10. Thou shalt not be stingy with thy wife when it comes to money. (Esther 5:3) TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR WIVES 1. Expect not thy husband to give thee as many luxuries as thy father hath given thee after many years of hard labor. (Phil 4:11; Amos 4:1) 2. Thou shalt work hard to build thy house with the husband that you have, not fantasizing about the one that could have been. (Prov 14:1) 3. Thou shalt not nag...hit him with thine frying pan, it is kindlier. (Prov 27:15; 21:19) 4. Thou shalt coddle thy husband and be a warm wife. (1 Cor 7:3-5) 5. Remember that the frank approval of thy husband is more to thee than the side glances of many strangers. (Ezek 16:32; 2 Pet 2:14) 6. Thou shalt not yell at thy husband but will be a gentle and quiet spirit. (1 Pet 3:1-4) 7. Permit no one to assure thee that thou art having a hard time of it. (1 Pet 5:9) 8. Thou shall not fail to dress up for thy husband with an eye to please him, as thou didst before marriage. (Sos 4:9-11) 9. Thou shalt submit to thy husband from thy heart and allow him to be head of the household. (Col 3:18; 1 Pet 3:6; Eph 5:33) 10. Thou shalt assure thy husband and others that he is the greatest man alive. (Phil 2:3; Sos 5:9-16) Please, Daddy, Won t You Go! Read: 2 Timothy 3:15; Ephesians 6:4; Deuteronomy 6:6-9 A little girl s bright shining eyes with face aglow, Says: Daddy, It s time for church-let s Go! They teach us there of Jesus love, of how he died for all, Upon the cruel cross to save those who on Him will call. Oh, no, said Daddy, Not today. I ve worked hard all week, And I must have one day of rest; and I m going to the creek. For there I can relax and rest; and fishing is fine they say. So run along; don t bother me, we ll go to church some day. Well months and years have passed away, but Daddy hears that plea no more; Let s go to Bible school. Those childhood days are over. And Daddy s grown old, life s almost through, He finds time to go to church, but what does daughter do? She says: Oh Daddy, not today-i stayed up half the night; I know you know that church can wait...you understand my plight! Then Daddy lifts a trembling hand to brush away the tears, As again he hears the pleading voice, distinctly through the years. He sees a small girl s shining face upturned, with eyes aglow, As she says, It s time for Bible school; please, Daddy, won t you go? Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. Prov 22:6 (Author Unknown)

Prov 30-31 DAILY BIBLE READING SCHEDULE 1. Your Purpose in using the daily Bible reading schedule is not to read the entire Bible through in one year. Rather, it is a tool to assist you in developing the habit of reading a small portion of the Bible every day. 2. Statistics indicate that it will take you only 21 days before daily Bible reading becomes a habit. However, it takes only 3 days to break it. Commitment and consistency are the keys. 3. Everyone has time to read the Bible every day. Compare the time you spend watching TV and reading the newspaper every day! 4. As you begin to develop the habit of reading daily, you will occasionally miss your reading, sometimes for even 2-3 days in a row. if this happens you don t need to catch up by cramming the missed days in one sitting. To catch up skip what you missed and read the current days portion. However, you may read missed days. Be self disciplined and never give up trying! 5. You will read portions of both the Old and New Testaments every day. Generally, you will read the Old Testament through once and the New Testament through twice in one year. 6. Total daily reading time is about 20 minutes. Readings are about 10 minutes long for each of the Old and New Testament portions. 7. The 66 books will be read in the order they appear in the Bible with these exceptions for the purpose of balance: a. The gospels are spaced evenly throughout the year; 1 every 6 weeks. b. The Psalms are divided up into 4 readings spaced every 3 months. c. The book of Proverbs is read twice a year, once every 6 months. d. Kings and Chronicles are read 6 months apart. e. The book of Revelation is read only once a year. 8. Have you ever wondered how to increase your faith? Faith comes from hearing (or reading) the word of God (Romans 10:17). BEGIN TODAY!
