We welcome, serve, and educate.

Dear Parishioners, We begin another liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent. The purpose of Advent is to help us to prepare ourselves for the celebration of the Birth of Christ. The readings of this season tell us how God prepared the people of Israel for the Birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. We are the beneficiaries of all the promises God made to the people of Israel. May this season of Advent help us to appreciate the great blessings that God has given us in the person of Jesus Christ! Yours Sincerely, Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor December 8th is The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Our Masses are at 8:00am, 9:00am (school mass all are welcome), 12:00pm, and 5:30pm Advent Confessions On the 12th of December, Tuesday, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm there will be an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation individually at St. Anselm Church. This will be a wonderful preparation for the celebration of Christmas. This year, we have five local families who work hard to make ends meet but have little left over for their children at this joyous time of year. Additionally, we are reaching out to 24 families from St. Eugene s Parish, in Santa Rosa, who are impacted by the wild fires. Many of these families lost jobs and are struggling with school expenses while trying to rebuild their lives. If you can help, please take a tag from our Giving Tree, purchase the gift, wrap it, attach the tag and return it next weekend, December 9th, 10th or December 16th,17th. The best way to help the fire victims is with a gift card and we are suggesting Target. That way parents can select gifts, assuring correct sizes and needs or cards can be used for household items. We assist some of our families year round so there are envelopes on the Giving Tree for those wishing to make a donation to our program Thank you and God bless you for your generosity and support. St. Anselm Church Calendar of Events December 10 10:00 Mass Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration Reception to follow December 12 Confessions following 5:30pm Mass 6:00pm-7:00pm December 16 Advent Retreat Day with Dan Schutte 10:00am-6:00pm (including 5:00pm Mass) Hall & Church Events At/Near St. Anselm Parish A couple of weeks ago, my son David, a science teacher at Fairfield High School, opened his classroom at lunch time for students interested in playing the ukulele. Ten students showed up with ukuleles and fifteen more showed up the next time without ukulelesthey shared. My son set a web sight for gofundme and in three weeks he reached his goal to buy ukuleles for students who could not buy one. A very generous person in our church donated her ukulele to my son. That gave me the idea that there are probably more people who have a ukulele they do not use, and maybe they would like to donate it to a child at Fairfield High. The numbers of students showing interest to play is growing. You can contact me, Rose Shadduck at 415-453-6533. God Bless, Rose Christmas Volunteer Opportunities with Catholic Charities Embrace the Christmas season by taking time to serve others and spread holiday joy throughout our community! The Bell Tower Project The Church bell was installed in the bell tower in 1908. For 109 years the Bell Tower has withstood the ravages of rain, water seepage, and the sun. These elements have nearly destroyed the foundation of the Tower. The time has come to redo the foundation and stabilize the structure. We are also looking at the possibility of recommissioning the bell since it is part of our rich history and tradition. We are beginning a capital campaign to complete this project. The Bell Tower Committee and I will be approaching you for suggestions, donations and pledges to complete this project. This is a project that needs to be done and I look forward to your support. Fr. Jose
