BBC Update BBTS 9th Annual Commencement During the weekend of May 19-20, 2018, Bible Baptist Church hosted the Bible Baptist Theological Seminary 9th Annual Graduation Banquet and Commencement service. Beginning with the Dissertation Defense of doctoral candidate Pastor George Totica on Saturday, May 19, 2018, the doctoral dissertation committee, comprised of Dr. Thomas Strouse, Dr. Cas Reeves, and Dr. Keith Main, examined the dissertation entitled Pioneering Immersionist Baptist Assemblies in Iloilo, Philippines and Pastor Totica s defense thereof. Upon the candidate s agreement to correct and clarify certain aspects of the dissertation, the committee accepted the dissertation and recommended the granting of the Doctor of Ministry degree to Pastor Totica. On Saturday evening Bible Baptist Church honored the four candidates for graduation with a succulent ham and potatoes dinner. After the dinner and challenge from Scripture, the candidates gave their testimonies of salvation and God s will for their lives. On Sunday many friends from several sister churches came to witness biblical messages in Sunday School (revolving around Joshua s long day ), in the morning service (Rom. 6:6-10), and in the commencement message (II Tim. 3:1-17). Bible Baptist Theological Seminary conferred Orrery The Scripture states, Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day (Josh 10:12-13). Of course, Joshua s prayer was in biblical and physical harmony with God s creation of heaven and earth (Gen. 1:1-19). The LORD created heaven after He created earth, and He place the light bearers of the sun, moon, and stars in the heavens to revolve around the earth (which was distinct from the heavens) daily, along with the whole cosmos. Pastor Thomas Strouse used his mechanical orrery to demonstrate the relative motions of the astral objects around the stationary earth, as the whole of Scripture depicts. Although some Christians reject the relative and absolute realities of the biblical revelation of God s creation (cf. the peril of Jn. 3:12) with the phenomenological argument (from man s perspective it looks like Beautiful calligraphy Pastor Strouse Used his mechanical orrery to demonstrate geocentricity Bible Baptist Theological Seminary Class of 2018. Continued on Page 2 the sun moves [but in reality the earth turns]). If in actuality the earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the sun as evolutionary scientists purport, then the Lord Jesus Christ colluded with God the Father and perpetuated this phenomenological deceit, saying, That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust (Mt. 5:45). The Happy Man Text: Psalm 40:1-17 1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Psalm 40:1-4 There are many times in our lives that we realize our weakness and our poverty. We may find that we have not the strength to endure a trial or the resource to work out a problem. It is in these kinds of times that men should call upon the LORD for that help and Pastor Cas Reeves strength. David of old was such a man from whom we can learn from his example. David, with great expectation, waited upon the LORD crying in prayer for help from the Him; and He inclined (stretched out to) Himself toward David (v.1). The LORD delivered David out of the horrible pit (cistern) and from the miry clay to set his feet upon a solid rock and to establish his goings, literally his steps (v.2). The LORD gave David a new song to sing with his mouth, praising God. The result of this song of praise was that many shall see, fear and trust the LORD (literally: to hid themselves, to Devotional Corner take refuge in the LORD) (v.3). When men put their trust in the LORD rather than the genius of men; God calls them Blessed (literally: happy) (v.4). This man is a happy man because he knows his help is the LORD. And this is why David declared: But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God (v. 17). What can we learn from David about being a happy man? First, we can be happy when we cry unto the Lord with our needs. Secondly, we can be happy when we can find deliverance with the Lord from our troubles. Thirdly, we can be happy when we can sing a new song of praise from our Lord. Fourthly, we can be happy when we make the Lord our trust And fifthly, we can be happy when we know God thinks upon us. Today, Jesus Christ is ready to be your Lord and Savior; literally your refuge from a future hell and any present troubles or dangers. Have you repented of your sin and received Him as your Savior? Are you a happy man? You can be!-car Devotional Corner 3 The Happy Man BBTS Summer Schedule May 28 - June 1, 2018 Ireland Module Jeremiah and Ecclesiastes June 4-8, 2018 Community Baptist Church Module Quakertown, PA Gospel of Luke and Medical Terms July 23-27, 2018 Plymouth, NH Module Minor Prophets, Part One Aug 20-24, 2018 Fairhaven Baptist College Module TBA Quotes From the Past: Douglas MacArthur 1880-1964 A Great American General Douglas MacArthur A better world shall emerge based on faith and understanding.

Grow In Grace Devotional for Women Grow In Grace 8 Devotional for Women I Change Not! 3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest s office. Exodus 28:3 3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, Exodus 31:3 Reflection: The first two times the word wisdom is used in the Bible is in Exodus 28:3 and Exodus 31:3. The LORD gives several chapters of instruction regarding how He desires to dwell among His people in a custom built tabernacle. The LORD is not disorganized, careless, or haphazard. He is intentional, deliberate, purposeful, and desires HIS creation to worship Him, HIS Way! There are a plethora of churches today who display a casual Christianity. Many claim the name of Christ but do not follow after His Way. Instead man, in many cases, has established his own religion, practices, and traditions. The LORD is not pleased with man changing His truth for a lie. In the following verse the LORD smote 50,070 for one simple act of disobedience. 19 And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten [many] of the people with a great slaughter. 1 Samuel 6:19 The end of this verse speaks of the people lamenting instead of repenting!! When we enter into a relationship with Him through His Son s atonement for our sin, we are also filled with the Spirit of wisdom! We are changed, have new eyes to see, and a new desire to love the Lord, to live for Him, and to please Him. Challenge: Does the Lord expect that His redeemed will be obedient today? Has the LORD changed His expectations of our walking in holiness, after all we are in the New Covenant of Grace?! Do you treat the Lord casually? Are you lamenting today for your circumstances or repenting? Read the following verses, what do they teach you about the God we serve? Pastor Ken Brooks Calvary Independent Baptist Church West Redding, Connecticut To The Seven A Commentary on The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Hebrews The recent book, If Any Man Be In Christ: An Examination of the Impact and Doctrine of Easy Believeism among Bible Believing Christianity, by Dr. Noel Meadowcroft, has put forth the biblical case for the teaching of the need for repentance in conversion, as well as for elucidating the biblical perspective of so-called Lordship Salvation. Dr. Meadowcroft has been a student of the trends and movements in conservative Christianity for many decades, observing the faulty doctrine of easy believe-ism and its fruitless conversions. Because of his heartbreak over the empty lives of many unrepentant Christians and because of his passion for truth, he has written If Any Man Be In Christ. Dr. Noel Meadowcroft, who has a lifetime of experience in personal evangelism, has in a very practical way captured the problem of false professions of faith in his book, If Any Man Be In Christ. He identifies and examines the false doctrine and practice of salvation by Easy Believeism, salvation without repentance and salvation without a Lordship understanding. He reveals the various problems resulting from this method of evangelism, and concludes by giving a more excellent method of presenting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior in personal evangelism. This book is a recommend read for all Believers, and especially for those who are serious in their personal evangelism efforts. Dr. Caswell A.
