The Monthly Newsletter of The Central Florida Metal Detecting Club Carolyn Harwick: From The President s Desk JANUARY 2018 I would like to personally thank all of the members of the Central Florida Metal Detecting club for electing me as the club president and will do my best to keep things fun and exciting, and continue to build relationships with the communities we live in. Bring on 2018! I would like to wish all of the members of the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club and their families a Happy New Year. It is hard to believe that the New Year is here already but it will be a busy one with lots of fun. As you all know, we had the elections for the new club officers at the December meeting. We have an all new board, with the exception of Chuck (sorry Chuck). On behalf of the entire club, I would like to thank Alan James for his hard work as the president of the CFMDC for the last 8 years. He has truly helped make the club what it is today. I would also like to thank Bill Green for the 12+ years he spent on the board as Vice President and tracking the challenge program. Don Cole has been an important role for several years as the 2 nd Vice President. Thank you all for your hard work over the years. The new board has big shoes to fill! The January meeting is a very big event. Throughout 2017, there were thousands of finds that were placed on the monthly finds table. All of the first place finds from last year, will be brought back to this meeting and we will vote on the finds of the year for each category. We will also be announcing the Hunter of the Year at the meeting. The Hunter of the Year is determined by the total point count that each member earned throughout the year. We will start a new point count for 2018 at the January meeting as well. Also, do not forget to bring in all of your monthly finds from December and January to start your point count for the new year. On January 20, 2018 we will have a club hunt at Sylvan Lake Park. The hunt will start at 9:00 AM and is open to everyone. The details will be discussed at the meeting. Carolyn See you at the next meeting.
