CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 1 O God our help in ages past Text: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 1. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home. 2. Under the shadow of thy throne, still may we dwell secure; sufficient is thine arm alone, and our defense is sure. 3. Before the hills in order stood, or earth received her frame, from everlasting, thou art God, to endless years the same. 4. A thousand ages, in thy sight, are like an evening gone; short as the watch that ends the night, before the rising sun. 5. Time, like an ever rolling stream, bears all who breathe away; they fly forgotten, as a dream dies at the opening day. 6. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come; be thou our guide while life shall last, and our eternal home.
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 2 Let us with a Gladsome mind John Milton (1608-1674) 1 Let us with a gladsome mind praise the Lord who is so kind: for God's mercies shall endure, ever faithful, ever sure. 2 God, with all-commanding might, filled the new-made world with light: for God's mercies shall endure, ever faithful, ever sure. 3 All things living God does feed; with full measure, meets their need: for God's mercies shall endure, ever faithful, ever sure. 4 Let us with a gladsome mind praise the Lord who is so kind: for God's mercies shall endure, ever faithful, ever sure.
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 3 COME YE THANKFUL PEOPLE, COME Henry Alford (1844) 1 Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home; all is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin. God our Maker doth provide for our wants to be supplied; come to God's own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home. 2 All the world is God's own field, fruit as praise to God we yield; wheat and tares together sown are to joy or sorrow grown; first the blade and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear; Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be. 3 For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take the harvest home; from the field shall in that day all offenses purge away, giving angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast; but the fruitful ears to store in the garner evermore. 4 Even so, Lord, quickly come, bring thy final harvest home; gather thou thy people in, free from sorrow, free from sin, there, forever purified, in thy presence to abide; come, with all thine angels, come, raise the glorious harvest home.

And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us. Mark 9:22 (KJV) Man must be aware of being at war. There is a contest over every Man s life. This truth must be known and understood. It is about this war or contest that God at the start (in Eden) gave Man that de facto mandate; have Dominion. We must understand that Man was created for a defined and intentional purpose. Man was created to solve a problem; to manage God s estate (the Earth) and counteract the works of a wicked being whose target was to decimate the works of God. After God had created all things; He needed a Manager; someone to direct and govern the earth and so He said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Gen. 1:26 KJV). Notice, Man was created to have dominion over all the earth. The notion to have dominion itself informs of contest and tussle to hold and maintain control by the exercise of Power. It takes power to wield dominion. This important notice is the basis of Man s existence. Man was designed and developed to exercise power, authority and governance on the earth; to represent God as god of this earth directing and controlling all things under the rule and instruction of God; to enforce and administrate order and perpetuate peace on earth. This was God s charge to Man. Man could not wield this dominion for long; the challenger upstaged Man and Man lost dominion. The Bible would later identify and describe satan as the god of the world who blinds people s mind. (2 Cor. 4:4) The activities of satan destroyed the order and peace on the earth and according to the Bible, the whole world (now) lieth in wickedness (1 John 5:19 KJV). Wickedness is everything that is not the nature of God. Wicked is the art and act of the devil; the devil is the wicked one (Matt. 13:19 KJV). Wickedness is opposed to the nature and candor of God. It refutes and rebuffs all goodness and wellness. Wickedness is the trade of the devil and he perpetuates it. Wickedness is against God and Man and so seeks to destroy everything that is of God or related to Man. But God is good (Psalm 106:1). It is about this wicked and his wickedness on the earth that God by His Mercy and Infinite Wisdom sent Jesus our Savior to reinstate and restore Man to Glory and Dominion. The Bible says, For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:3 KJV). This is the important need for everyone to allow and receive Jesus into his/her life so the wicked one will not wound or hurt him/her. Beloved, give Jesus a chance in your life to help you. He came to help, save and restore you. Peace! Olusanya Adewusi
WEEKLY REVIEW Source of Light Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all (1 Chronicles 29:11). Power is the capability to exercise control or influence on people or event. It is wedging means to determine or direct an outcome. It is the privileged ability to have things done to one s intent and content. Power is sovereignty. Why do we need Power? 1. To practice and manifest our sonship- John 1:12-13 2. To overcome- Luke 10:19 3. To witness- Acts 2,3, 1:8- Luke 10:19 4. To do good- Act 10:38, Mk 16:16-20 What is the source of Power? God is the source and head of all powers (1 Chronicles 29:11-12) and every other power that exists is derived from Him being the ultimate source, (Rom 13:1-2). God gives His power to His own to direct and order seasons and events around them and we receive God s power when we receive the Holy Spirit. As children of God, He has given us power to denounce anything that is not of His will and when we submit to His authority, He overthrows all other powers that may be against His plan and will for us. He appoints men in places of authority to fight for us and His mighty power is more than able to save us from every evil. Praise God! God can make great change in our lives because He has the power to overthrow the subordinate and inferior wickedness of the wicked to give one a new life of bliss. Let s permit God to rule and direct our lives; rejoicing will be the result (Psalm 147:5 KJV). Amen Sister Kachi Odumah
