CHAPTER DEDICATES PLAQUE TO JOHN HANSON The Sgt. Lawrence Everhart Chapter of the MDSSAR conducted a dedication program at the Frederick, MD home site of John Hanson on April 16 th. Our outdoor plans were dashed as there was a fierce rainstorm in the area and tornados touched down less than 10 miles away. However, as a result of good relations with the mayor, we were allowed to use the city hall annex about 200 feet away. Our event went off indoors with driving wind and rain outside. In spite of this, we had 60 people attend including Maryland state senators and Frederick County commissioners. We received Official Citations from the Governors office, both Senators from the Maryland General Assembly, a Proclamation from the Board of Frederick County Commissioners signed by all the commissioners and a proclamation from Mayor Randy McClement. Also in attendance were Representatives from both US Senators, Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski, who read their proclamations acclaiming the importance of John Hanson and his service to the country as it s first president of the United States in Congress Assembled, the nation s first government that proceeded the Constitution To the left is a picture of the plaque which has bee mounted on the east side of the Reconstructed Hanson House on Court House Square.
