Faith Presbyterian Church Tacoma, Washington Organ Prelude Meditation O Redeemer divine, our sole hope of salvation, Eternal light. Of the earth and the sky, We kneel in adoration, O Savior, turn on us thy loving eye! Call to Worship Send down on us the fire of Thy grace all consuming, Whose wondrous might dispersed the powers of hell, And rouse our slumbering souls with radiance all illumining, That they may waken Thy mercy to tell! O Christ bestow Thy blessing on us, we implore Thee, Who here are gathered on penitent knee, Accept the hymns we chant to Thine eternal glory And these Thy gifts we return unto Thee! Le Cantique de Jean Racine/Gabriel Fauré *Hymn Be Thou My Vision No. 642 *Confession of Faith Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death? A. That I am not my own, but belong - body and soul, in life and in death - to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me whole-heartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him. Heidelberg Catechism, No. 1 Reading of Holy Scripture Psalm 62 (ESV p. 479) Prayer In Remembrance - Family and Colleagues If ye love me, Keep my commandments, And I will pray the Father, And he shall give you another comforter, That he may bide with you forever, E en the spirit of truth. No. 460 *Benediction Silent Prayer Postlude This world is beautiful and bright, O scarce one cloud has dimmed my sky, And yet no gloomy shades of night Are gath ring round me though I die; Yet there s a lov lier land of light, Illum d by Bethle m s beaming Star; E en now it bursts upon my sight, True, life is sweet, and friends are dear, And youth and health are pleasant things, Yet, leave I all, without a tear, No sad regret my bosom wrings. The ties of earth are broken all, My chainless soul, above yon star, Shall wing its way beyond recall, And is this death? My soul is calm, No sting is here, the strife is done; Glory to God, and to the Lamb! Sweet triumph! I have won, I ve won! Ah, this is the life. The salty spray washing over the decks. The seagulls crying, The wind in your face. This is the life. Sailing is the life. Carefree, fun, never the same. Ivan vandooren 1969 Cover artwork by Lars vandooren
