Luke 4:18 19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mt. Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. KINGDOMTIED August 28 November 26 (The pulpit attire is Green) 2 We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. The cloths on the Communion table and podium are changed to coincide with each season of the Christian calendar. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 24 until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. General Theme For This Quarter: TRADITION AND WISDOM The study of this quarter is a survey of Old Testament wisdom literature, as well as an examination of Jesus teachings on wisdom. We hope that you will join us as we are focusing on: JESUS TEACHES WISDON These five lessons examine Jesus Sermon on the Mount and its relationship to the traditional teaching of Mosaic Law. The first four lessons, taken from Matthew 5 & 6, give attention to what Jesus says to disciples about living, forgiving, loving, and praying. The final lesson invites the participants to hear a new Jesus words about worry free living. THIS WEEK S: FORGIVING AS GOD S PEOPLE Matthew 5:17 26 Jesus teaches wisdom as it applies to our attitude toward Him and in the way we relate to others. Specifically, keeping the law requires more than outward obedience. It requires a change of heart. NEXT WEEK S: November 13, 2011 LOVING AS GOD S PEOPLE Matthew 5:43 48 UNIT #2 It is easy to love a neighbor and hate an enemy, but Jesus teaches that love and prayer are to be extended to our enemies. NAACP Membership Sunday For more than one hundred years the NAACP has been the leading advocate for social justice and equality for people of color, and we can proudly boast such because of our Members. Since 1909, the NAACP has been supported by countless members and has led the fight for freedom, justice, and equality. NAACP membership makes a positive difference in the lives of Americans. While the NAACP has won many victories, the times ahead are critical. Membership helps to close the gaps in the staggering statistics that so blatantly attest to the racial disparities in the United States. Our best hope for protecting the freedom of people and advancing the gains of the NAACP is by becoming a member, renewing memberships, and vowing to be more active, more vocal, and more visible. The NAACP needs you, please join today! Membership dues: Adults $30, Youth $15 or $10. Wedding Ministry The Wedding Ministry will meet on Thursday November 10th at 6:30 P. M.. MOBC HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell someone else what Jesus has done in your life! Meet Keyaria Adoption Works! Most 10 year old girls are into Hanna Montana and That s so Raven, but for Keyaria, she is anxious about a forever home. She needs a family who she can trust to be there for her as she grows up into a beautiful young lady. She is bright and cheerful. She enjoys all types of foods but, she especially likes to bake cookies and make ice cream sundaes. When Keyaria was asked what makes her sad, angry, and frustrated and she stated Moving from place to place and not seeing my other siblings or Mommy. Keyaria needs a permanent family that she can trust and one who would welcome her with kind words. She wants to feel safe and apart of a committed and dedicated family that can provide unconditional love and trust. Can you be that family for Keyaria? Many, many families like yours have opened their hearts and homes to children who need to be Adopted.
