SUMC Newsletter April 2019 Up from the Grave He Arose Low in the grave He lay, Jesus, my Savior, waiting the coming day, Jesus, my Lord! Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o er His foes, He arose a Victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! WINNER Hallelujah! Christ arose! Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus, My Savior; vainly they seal the dead, Jesus, my Lord! Death cannot keep his Prey, Jesus, my Savior; He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!! CONGRATULATIONS Candi Stelzman Who knew that Abraham s twin grandson s were Esau and Jacob Journey with Jesus through Holy Week There is nothing like Holy Week. Between Palm Sunday and Easter the story of Jesus grows dark. He enters Jerusalem in a parade with the crowd shouting Hosana! But this parade is ultimately headed to the cross. Judas will betray. Peter will deny. False witnesses will accuse. Nails and a Roman spear will pierce his flesh. Jesus will say It is finished, and he will breathe his last. If you have never attended Holy Week worship services before, I urge you to make them a priority this year. The victory cry of Easter will be richer when we ve sat through the silence of Good Friday. I can t say it more clearly: the worship services of Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday are the very center of our faith. This is what it s all about. Please come join your church family for Holy Week. Pastor Paul
