At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus and during Easter we celebrate the resurrection. As we enter the month of April, I am excited that Easter is almost here. When I said Easter, what was the first thing that came to mind? Did you picture a basket full of colorful eggs and a bunny? Often, this is the first picture that comes to mind. Much like Christmas, Easter has become another day of commercialism. However, this year lets reflect on the true meaning of Easter. Easter is about the resurrection of a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. This is where my hope lies! I am reminded of the Apostle Paul s words when he speaks of the resurrection If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins (I Cor. 15:17). In other words, if Jesus Christ has not risen from the grave, our faith is completely ineffective. It is worthless and we are not only dead in our sins and trespasses, but are destined to an eternity separated from God. Paul goes on to say that if we only have hope in Jesus Christ for this lifetime, then we are to be most pitied among all men (I Cor. 15:19). However, we know that our faith is not futile. I can only imagine what it must have been like on that Easter morning to be in those women s shoes. When they arrived at the empty tomb in which Jesus Christ had been buried, they saw the two men who gleamed like lightening standing beside them. They exclaimed He is not here, He is risen! Can someone shout Hallelujah? Jesus has risen! He has conquered death, hell, and the grave! He has not only died for your sins and mine, but He has been raised to life. I know for certain, beyond any shadow of a doubt where my hope lies. I hope you have this same certainty. Mark your calendars and join us for these upcoming events as we remember, reflect, and celebrate the risen Savior. Pastor Brad Hebrews 12:2

We pulled up everything and decided to start over. While doing so, I was getting the beds ready and cleaning out the bad soil and putting down good and I was reminded of Mark 4. Jesus talks about the story of planting seeds. In the story he talks about the seeds that fall out on the side of the road, ones on rocky ground and thorny bushes. Eventually all the seeds did not produce anything. But the ones that were planted in good soil produced fruit. The seeds are being used as a reference to people in Christ. Mark 2:20 says Others are like the seeds planted in the good Practice Fire Drill Sunday, April 7 10:30 am ground. They hear the teaching and accept it. Then they grow and produce fruit sometimes thirty times more, sometimes sixty times more, and sometimes a h u n d r e d times more. We must prepare our fields by repentance of our sins and living by the word of the Lord. We must then make our bodies like good soil and let that planted seed produce the fruit ans we do that by accepting His Word and continue to study His Word. If we do that, then we grow and produce fruit. But if our bodies are unclean, then the seed can not grow. So, while we prepare our Thank You! From Baptist Children s Home Bunker Cottage yard this spring to produce a beautiful place at our homes, let s also remember to prepare ourselves and get rid of the bad in us and study the Word so that the seed in us can grow and produce the fruit and be beautiful and fulfilling to the Lord as well. God Bless, Brian Murray Deacon of the Month Instructions for this drill are posted in each Sunday School class. Please go over this information before the drill (3/24, 3/31). After Worship on April 7, there will be a brief question and answer session. Fire Chief Brannon Barbee will observe the practice fire drill and give feedback on our plans. Dear Mrs. Patty and friends of Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church Thank you so very much for all the wonderful donations. We are truly blessed. Our cottage is really becoming a home thanks to your generosity. Words cannot express our thanks. On Thursday, April 4th, a few members of WMU will go to Pine Level Elementary and pack bags of food for children who are part of the back pack buddy program. Enough food is packed to last Saturday and Sunday while they are away from school. Information about the Cooperative Program will be placed in the bulletin and on the table underneath the bulletin board in the back breezeway. WMU will be serving desserts at the Hospice House on Wednesday afternoon, April 10th. The desserts need to be placed in the fellowship hall no later than 3:15 pm. WMU will continue to spearhead the collection of non perishable food. Cleaning supplies, and gift cards for the Food/Cleaning supplies Round Up for Baptist Children s Homes of NC. Sunday, April 7th will be our last day of collection. All items will need to be delivered to the JCC parking lot on Monday, April 8th or Tuesday, April 9th. From there the supplies will be loaded on a transfer truck and taken to the Kennedy Home in Kinston. The Quarterly Business Meeting will be held on Wednesday night, April 17th at 7 pm. I encourage as many as possible attend the meeting. On Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th, the annual WMU Mission Extravaganza will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Six Forks Road. It is a wonderful experience as you will be able to hear first hand mission stories, be part of great break out sessions, and join with so many WMU members state wide to exchange ideas and mission opportunities. WMU wishes everyone a safe and happy Spring. Go out and serve others and be His hands and feet! We appreciate you and are so grateful for your support.
