Page 3 August 6, 2017 A Message of Thanksgiving from Janet This weekend I step down from my Ministry of the last 24 years at OLMC. I can t help but reflect on the blessings this time at the Parish has offered me. You have allowed the Lord to use me in times of Joy, as Sacraments were celebrated. There have been hundreds and hundreds of celebrations of Baptisms, Communions, Confirmations, Marriages, joining the Catholic Faith, and returning to the faith. You have allowed me to share in the difficult times as well, as you have faced illnesses, and the deaths of loved ones. I have walked with you through annulments and many pastoral ministry situations. We have shared hundreds of Adult Faith sessions, missions, retreats, times of prayer together, and fun Friday evenings with Soul Sisters. I give thanks to the three Pastors I have worked under and for the incredible lay staff I have had the privilege to minister with and learn from over the years. Thanks for your support these past twenty four years, and I look forward to the next chapter where the Lord will lead me. See you Sunday! Blessings and Hugs to each of you! Janet Hassan Pastoral Associate Support our Parish! Did you know that you can help support our parish with no extra cost to you!? Page 6 August 6, 2017 Social Ministry Transformed by The Eucharist Reaching Out into community BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES Watch out for Back to School sales this summer! Because of your generosity to this collection drive, last year Outreach Ministries was able to distribute just over 20 brand new book bags filled with school supplies to those coming to our office in need of these items. The smiles on the children s faces as they put a new back pack on their back is priceless. Truly!! We are in need of: Book Bags, Pens, Pencils, Crayons, Colored Pencils, Notebooks (wide ruled), Loose-Leaf Paper (wide ruled), Composition Books, Rulers, Folders, Glue Sticks, Scissors, Calculators, Index Cards, Highlighters, and Hand Sanitizer. Any one item from the list would be a blessing! PANTRY NEEDS These items are critically low! Jelly, Pancake Mix/Syrup, Spaghetti Sauce, Boxed Potatoes, Bag Rice, Beef Stew Thank you so very much!! 3e Restoration Ministry Follow-Up Thank you for your overwhelming excitement and response to our new 3e Restoration Ministry roll out! So, what are our next steps? We will be hosting a training/information night that will allow you more information and a space to reflect and ask questions about this ministry. Please check this column of the bulletin over the next couple of weeks for a date, time and place. Anyone is welcome to come to that information session even if you did not sign up. Coming to the meeting does not automatically commit you to ministry. In addition, we will have a page on the website dedicated to the needs of this ministry, so you can see exactly what is needed and how you might be able to plug into this ministry without having to commit to something long term. Pastoral Ministries Circle of Hope The next gathering of the Circle of Hope is Saturday, August 12. We meet from 10 am until 11:30 am in the Gathering Room of the Church. The Circle of Hope is a Catholic support group for anyone who has dealt with cancer or other chronic illness. This is a positive, upbeat group that will help you with the journey, no matter what stage you are at. So if cancer is part of your past, or if you are currently dealing with a new diagnosis of cancer or other chronic illness or treatment, please let us be a part of your journey. Join us on Saturday, August 12 th, and try a meeting. Serving the Spiritual Needs of Grieving Parents Losing a child under any circumstance is horrific.
