This year many of us have been affected by the economic crisis. Loss of jobs and income have resulted in high levels of stress and anxiety. With the direction our world is taking, our temple s role as a place of meditation and serenity will become increasingly important. Dear friends, the greatest blessing is that of a peaceful heart and a clear, awakened mind. We are blessed to have the teachings of the Buddha to guide us. Please come out on Dec. 6 to join our sangha in reverently celebrating the Buddha s Day of Enlightenment. Gassho & aloha, Rev. Jiko If You Drink, Don t Drive According to the Nov/Dec 09 AAA Hawai i s Westways magazine, 47% of Hawai i s 2007 traffic fatalities were alcohol-related, the 4th highest in the nation. If you drink, please don t drive. And don t let your friends or family drink and drive, either. Designate a nondrinking driver. Enjoy nonalcoholic drinks. Wear your seat belt.
