O THE SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 17, 2019 Lent is almost here! Join Fr. Tom for the Forgiven Series from Formed.org on Wednesday s for lent beginning on Ash Wednesday following our Mass at 6pm and soup at 6:30pm. We will begin around 7:15pm and conclude by 8:30pm. Fr. Tom will lead a discussion after our video presentation. There are Daily Lenten Reflections on Formed.org. Confession is available on Thursday Evenings at 7pm and on Saturday at 8:45 am and 3:30pm. Confirmation Please pray for our 8 adults receiving Confirmation next Saturday at 10am at Christ the Light Cathedral in Oakland. Thank you Fr. Francisco Nahoe OFM, Conv. for preparing this years class. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen First Friday Traditional Latin Mass There will be a Traditional Latin Mass on March 1 at 7pm dedicated Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Friary Chapel in the CASA. First Saturday After Adoration there will be a meeting to promote Marian Devotion and Evangelization in the OLG Room on March 2 at 10am. We will meet to discuss the formation of a Village of the Immaculate at OLG. Fr. Tom Czeck the National Assistant of the Militia Immaculata will present on the movement begun by St. Maximilian Kolbe. Ash Wednesday is March 6 There will be Mass with Ash distribution at 8:15am, noon, and 6pm followed by a soup meal. Gospel for The Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (February 24th) Luke 6:27-38 Jesus said to his disciples: To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give, and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you. 1

BEWARE OF EMAIL SCAM! Recently, there have been fraudulent emails being sent to parishioners, supposedly from Fr. Tom s gmail account. Fr. Tom would never solicit funds through an email! These emails are fake and have nothing to do with Our Lady of Grace Church. Please report any of these kinds of emails to the police and to Jay in the Parish Office at 537-0806. God Bless and be safe! PREPARE FOR LENT WITH FORMED.ORG Lent begins next month. Exploring what FORMED has to offer is a wonderful way to help us prepare our hearts and minds for the Lenten season. Take advantage of the many free movies and ebooks at your disposal which can be shared and discussed with family and friends. You will also find many choices which are educational and entertaining for the youngest members of your family. If you don t have an account yet, just follow the instructions below for free access to FORMED! On your computer, tablet or Smartphone go to our site www.olgcv.formed.org You should see the register now box. Set up a username- whatever username you ll remember - and a password and you are all set. To get the Formed app for your phone or tablet, visit app.formed.org WINTER COLD & FLU SEASON As always, you are reminded to use common good sense in the reception of Holy Communion during the annual cold & flu season. If you are feeling ill or think you may have been exposed to a virus, you should refrain from partaking of the Blood of Christ from the communal chalice. In the same way, you should refrain from offering you hand to others at the sign of peace. Likewise, if you are not comfortable sharing the sign of peace or receiving Holy Communion from the communal chalice for fear of infection, you should feel no pressure to do so. All of us must be aware of such sensitive matters in the intimate life of the Christian community & we should expect that some will refrain from the sign of peace and the communal chalice out of care for our well-being and not out of unkindness or lack of piety. GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SALE The OLG Girl Scout Troop #30501 will be selling Girl Scout Cookies after all the Masses the weekend of February 16th & 17th. You will be helping support the troop & their community outreach efforts. 2 PRESIDENTS DAY PARISH HOLIDAY Monday, February 18th, is a federal holiday.
